Poor Folks Live Well

Poor Folks Live Well

Formed in the town of Wenatchee, WA in mid-2008, the 3-piece rock band Poor Folks, Live Well has quickly begun to make waves in the Northwest. The Band consists of Brian Bailey (guitar, vocals), Shawn Sanders (bass), and Carsin Boyle (drums). All three grew up in Cashmere, WA playing in bands of different diverse styles from bluegrass to jazz to punk. Poor Folks, Live Well came together drawing from that diversity to create a unique style of raw pop/rock.
Poor Folks values variety within the genre with melodies and lyrics that stick. Each song is written with the potential of the individual song in mind rather than squeezing and forcing it to “fit” with the rest. Through that attitude, there are soaring melodies along with tension and the music stays interesting yet familiar. These dynamics are well displayed throughout the debut L.P. entitled “Our Sore Nerves”, released August 2010.

The Jesus Rehab

In April of 2012 The Jesus Rehab proudly released "Drunken Hillbilly Fight Bar", their first record as a duo, shattering all expectations for a follow up to the critically acclaimed "The Highest Highs and The Lowest Lows" (LP 2010). Popstache.com claimed the record is "as different a record they could make while still playing under the same band name."

While some of this is the result of streamlining to a two-piece, brothers Jared and Dominic Cortese consciously constructed a collection of songs that are gritty, raw, and pure. The brothers have a dream to someday jump into a sea of screaming maniacs and they didn't see that happening if they made a similar record. Their live shows are athletic events as the two brothers feed off of each others energy dancing and singing with all their might with their fans. "Drunken Hillbilly Fight Bar" is an ode to all those bars that support alchol-induced madness. That is where you will find The Jesus Rehab "singing and stomping until there’s nothing left but two brothers having a good time as Seattle’s most exclusive club” (Popstache.com).

The Jesus Rehab's sound showcases powerful vocals and driving rhythms that have been compared favorably to Ok Go, The Kills, and most often Weezer. In the last two years, they’ve rocked their way through Seattle with gigs at mainstays including The Tractor Tavern, The Sunset, Barboza, Columbia City Theater, and The High Dive. They have also toured the West Coast multiple times, played shows at SXSW in Austin, TX (2011 and 2012), and the Big Ass Boom Box Festival in Portland, OR. Most recently, they toured the Midwest and East Coast for the first time and are recording a brand new record starting in July 2013. In January of 2013 they were voted as one of the DIY bands to watch in 2013 by Indie Rock Cafe.
