matter where they play, when The Child take the stage they bring the
noise.. Their sound heralds back to early 70's hard psych-prog (Sir Lord
Baltimore, Lucifer's Friend,Night Sun,BANG) with
a modern twist of metal and doom. For those who have witnessed the
band's live set words like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and James Gang
spring from their lips. Layering high-energy, heavy twin-guitar riffage
over a pounding rhythm section with a singer that's a cross between
Robert Plant,Ronnie Dio and Blind Melon's Shannon Hoon has built the
group a passionate, dedicated and rapidly growing fanbase.
Scorpion Child are from lots of different places, not only logistically
but musically. "We're from St. Louis,Austin,Wichita, and Houston," says
lead singer Aryn jonathan Black describing the band's roots. "Our
influences are diversified as classic rock and 80's thrash metal to old
school southern delta blues along the lines of Blind Willie Johnson,
Lemon Jefferson and Willie McTell." The five-piece call Austin, Texas
home since forming in the summer of 2006.

The world's leading scientists recently declared in unison: time travel can no longer be considered fiction but reality! Neither did their certainty originate from hypothetical thought experiments, nor from years of testing in isolated laboratories. It was the record of a rock trio from Berlin, Germany, that had dropped into the professors' laps out of the blue and led them to proclaim joyfully: "Warm, intense, authentic – doubtlessly a gift from bygone times!"
It was already with 2012's eponymous debut album that KADAVAR casted a spell on all fans of solid riff-driven yet doom-like 70's hard rock à la BLACK SABBATH or PENTAGRAM. Marrying this with the spacy psychedelic approach of early HAWKWIND and mixing in a distinct own touch while preserving their icon's warm vintage charm can doubtlessly be considered the trio's key to success – astoundingly high vinyl sales and support shows for bands such as SLEEP, SAINT VITUS, PENTAGRAM and ELECTRIC WIZARD as well as stunning festival gigs at "Stoned From The Underground", "Yellowstock" and "Fusion Festival", among others, underline KADAVAR's status as one of the scene's most exciting acts.
Carrying the experiences of dozens of played live shows as a source of inspiration inside them, KADAVAR entered the timeless space of their studio end of last year to procure supplies for their ever growing fan base that was starving for more – in the form of their second full-length album and debut on Nuclear Blast. "After last year's final show had been played in mid-December, we started writing new songs", drummer and studio owner Tiger recalls. "We've already had a couple of finished tracks in May 2012, but those were eventually released on a split-LP with AQUA NEBULA OSCILLATOR in November 2012, which is why we started at square one again. As we knew that there was no procrastination and no going back for us, we sat down for two weeks straight to finish composing with total commitment. We're perfectly happy with the outcome – I'd even say that "Abra Kadavar" comprises the best compositions we've created to date. The songs are more diversified, the ideas feel more spontaneous. Moreover, we've tried to capture much more of our live energy, which is why we've recorded almost everything all together in one room, with the amps turned up to the max – solely the vocals and a handful of guitar solos were added afterwards."
BLEAAAARGH! DOOOOOOM!! Sourvein takes the crusty Eyehategod/Grief/Corrupted style of doomgrind to new highs (lows?). Well, maybe not new ones, but just as extreme. Darker and scarier than fellow heavies Bongzilla or High On Fire, Sourvein simultaneously give a nod to the Sabbathy '70s sounds of doom pioneers St. Vitus, while ratcheting up the brutality of their crashing, crushing riffs into modern extreme metal/punk territory and beyond. It's like someone got the Melvins really really angry, and they're trapped in cave, frothing at the mouth, ready to die and kill -- and for some reason, they're trying to play Sleep songs. What? Stay away from those drugs. You know what I'm talking about?

Rock n' Roll history is rife with brothers working together to create their artistic vision. But rarely do we hear about a full-fledged family unit embarking down the treacherous path of a musical career. In the case of Texas based Mothership, the Brother Juett (Kyle on bass, younger brother Kelley on guitar) enlisted the aid of their father, John Juett, to help get the 'ship off the ground. Raised on a healthy dose of their father's 70's-era record collection, the brothers began crafting songs fueled on the raucous and raw good time vibe when music seemed to know no bounds. Lifting off the pad for the first time in 2010, the band began to gain momentum and notoriety with their unabashed live shows. Knowing that the service of the family patriarch was temporary, Father Juett actively helped his boys find his replacement, and in late 2011, enter the mighty Judge Smith to hammer away on the skins.
In early 2012, Mothership entered Crystal Clear Studios with Wo Fat mastermind Kent Stump manning the boards and by mid-year, the band self-released their debut album. It was the combination of the 70's-era heavy rock fuzz and fury mixed with the blistering guitar solos of the NWOBHM-era that drew the bands attention to California-based Heavy Rock label, Ripple Music. In the waning months of 2012, after a successful year of traveling regionally throughout Texas and opening for national acts such as Prong, Red Fang, Gypsyhawk, Earthen Grave, and Lo-Pan, Mothership officially dubbed Ripple Music as its Home Port and began plotting a course for their first U.S. Tour in early 2013. The band's debut album will see its official Ripple release on February 12th, 2013 in the way of CD, LP, Deluxe LP, and Digital releases.
