Lily Maase & the High Life Band

Lily Maase is a country, rock, jazz and classical guitarist and composer educated at the University of North Texas and currently living in Brooklyn, New York.

She was raised in New Mexico by her father, Steve Maase, who is still a local guitar legend in their hometown. Steve, Lily, and Lily’s younger sister Arielle all teach and play the guitar professionally, which makes their love of the instrument a bit of a family business. Steve’s self-published book, “Music Theory You Can Use,” has been the cornerstone of the Maase family’s approach to the fingerboard, and to helping to make the fingerboard accessible to students of all levels, for over a decade.

Lily is currently the lead guitarist with the Rocket Queens – a world-class all-female tribute to GNR, the Suite Unraveling, Lily Maase & the High Life Band, and Alicia Jo Rabins‘s “A Kaddish for Bernie Madoff.” She has toured nationally with the Suite Unraveling, JP & the Gilberts, as a solo artist, and with the Lascivious Biddies.

As she teaches both privately and at a college level, Lily has been in residency at Texas A&M University, the University of New Mexico, the University of North Texas (Jazz and Composition Studies divisions on separate occasions) and California State University at East Bay. Her private students range from age 5 to 65 and number among the cast of Broadway and off-Broadway shows, sidemen (and women) with notable heavy metal performers, and the professional community in Manhattan and beyond. She is proudly endorsed by Godin Guitars.
