Brooklyn's Bit Funk is an indie dance mainstay and Hype Machine chart topper, with songs featured everywhere from Treasure Fingers' DJ crate to the soundtrack for CW's Vampire Diaries. Appearing on major labels from Defected to Hed Kandi, his signature synth drenched disco sound has ignited dancefloors from LA's Avalon to exclusive showcases at SXSW.
Born in Colorado and transplanted to California, Brennen Bryarly, otherwise known as option4, has brought back to Denver a surge of music in every direction a grooving rhythm can go.
Growing roots in California's Bay Area hip-hop, to Denver raves, to New Orleans' brass instrumented soul, to Texas' live music, and back to Colorado again, option4 received and reciprocated as his reputation stemmed from a massive expanse of live venues.
Led into original productions by his cinema scoring father, option4's work was quickly drawn on by Girl Talk and DJ Kemistry. Full-scale option4 remixes of classic radio hits were thumping across club dance floors.
Founding Jrumatic Records in January of '09, option4's growing podcast with fans from as many places as he's lived brought fuel to the record label's fire. Now focusing on the blossoming electronic scene in Denver, option4 is soaking up and churning out the rocky mountain culture with a wide array of local talent.
Signed on by State51 distribution in London, England, option4's debut single, "Sunset Blvd", was picked up by dozens of music services and featured on itunes' pan-european new releases page.
A national television appearance with the Dallas Mavericks, and sets including Monolith Festival's Mainstage or other indie dance acts such as Holy Ghost!, sums up just the short amount of work he has sprinkled in while finishing up with his fast-approaching debut album.
NEED & NECESSITY
Rising out of a diverse, rich and burgeoning music scene comes house duo Need & Necessity. A calculated product of two like minded artists – Ross Kiser and Matt Friedman – both of whom carry impressive traditional music backgrounds, Denver’s preeminent underground dance duo have created a ripple effect of buzz while shining on as a vital piece of a growing and competitive club scene.
A simple touch of fate brought these two together in early 2007 as freshman at the University of Colorado. While both were separately cutting their teeth in the college club circuit, a joint spur of the moment mixtape Beat Control Vol. 1 became the catalyst for a shared, passionate journey in electronic music.
Along the way, Need and Necessity have had the felicitous opportunity of playing their sound in support of heavyweight dance music mainstays including Duke Dumont, Alan Braxe, George Fitzgerald, KASKADE, Nina Kraviz, Tensnake, Kevin Saunderson, J. Phlip, Dusky, Todd Edwards, Miguel Campbell, Justin Jay and countless others not to mention routine headlining acts in their home city. Need & Necessity have helmed the decks at a smattering of Colorado’s most revered music venues, as well as issuing amazing performances during Miami’s hallowed Winter Music Conference, proving their depth of music knowledge and a unique ability to play out to any number of contrasting crowds.
With a well received debut EP Build Me Up, put out by Argentinian house aficionados Spirit Soul under their belt, they continued with a slew of singles released on Dancefloor Encounters, Seven Music, Trax Records and Tru Talk. After co-founding our Night Supply brand, N&N has only improved upon their knowledge and understanding of dance music. The pair’s mark on Night Supply is felt with every release, from “Whip”, “Lemme See”, “Love On” and a viral collaboration with option4 “We Comin’ Up”; it seems the world over has begun to take notice. International support from Waze & Oddyssey, Rhythm Operator, Urulu, Ejeca and a host of others has solidified their place amongst a hungry group of up and coming house artists.
While Need & Necessity maintain a definite forward thinking sound, both producers cite musical influences from groove-heavy genres; particularly 90’s House, Jazz, Techno, Soul and R&B. Pieces from a number of music mediums resonate throughout their ever increasing and progressive collection of original productions, remixes and live sets. Need & Necessity keep their mission simple; to share a collective desire to inspire all walks of life with raw, original house tunes.
Two separate souls spent their formative years in Southern Colorado, oblivious to each other’s existence but unknowingly unified by a similar passion for music. One studied rhythm while the other had a penchant for melody and harmony. Little did they know their paths would cross many years later when they both found themselves in Denver’s burgeoning underground house scene. Collin McKenna, finally pursuing a lifelong interest to DJ quickly connected with another relative newcomer to the scene, Peter Washington. They shared the same passion for house music, and after seeing each other on the DJ circuit, they knew they had to align and Keepers was born. Now as a duo, Keepers are on a constant mission to bring a deep and soulful house sound to both the dance floor and in the studio.
Danny Marin is household name when is comes to DJ's in Colorado. This man has been spinning music since 1993. When you say his name you automatically think of HOUSE music, warehouse parties and dance clubs. In 2001 Danny invaded Denver with motive to DJ his ass off. Danny has held down residencies at every major club in Denver at one point. Danny has a Audio Engineering degree which he uses to instruct week to week projects at the GlobalDjAcademy.com
2012 Danny started producing music and finding his sounds that were deeply rooted with old skool hip hop and dark techno stabs. Pushing through several tracks to find a sound that suited his liking at the end of 2013 Danny found his groove with Bass House, G House and Deep house. Danny is on the rise with bang so be ready for some club bouncing productions from him this year in 2014.
