Milkman is the stage alias of Hip-Hop/Dance/Rock music producer Gregg Luskin from San Diego, CA. As a freshman at the University of California, Santa Barbara, Milkman was introduced to various glitch-pop remix artists. After being exposed to this new and upcoming sample-based genre, Milkman spent the remainder of the year learning and improving his own mashup technique. It took Milkman 13 months to complete his debut album Lactose and THC (released January 22, 2008 under self owned production company Milkman Entertainment) and was available to download for free online. Over the course of the next year, the debut album Lactose and THC was downloaded over 26,000 from his website alone and was voted the "2 Mashup Album of All Time" by DJ Forum. Soon after, Milkman took his music to a more professional level by offering live DJ service- extending the sound of his debut album for a more dance-oriented environment.
In the years following, Milkman expanded his fan base by performing locally in the shore-side college community Isla Vista. As word spread through college campuses around the country and over seas, Milkman's popularity began to grow and was soon headlining performances from coast to coast. Milkman is now regarded as a premiere mashup DJ around the world and regularly performs with A-List artists such as Lil' Jon and Three 6 Mafia. Milkman was awarded both "Hottest mashup DJ of 2008" as well as "DJ to watch out for in 2009" by DJ Forum. Prior to digital music production and live DJ performance, Gregg Luskin was the lead guitarist of San Diego based rock quartet A Dead Giveaway under the indie-rock label Pacific Records..
Keys N Krates
The Toronto-based trio – comprised of the high-energy Adam Tune on drums, synth-master David Matisse on keys, and internationally award-winning Jr. Flo on turntables – began by locking themselves in a rehearsal room for six months to create and finesse their unique sound and identity.
The result? A blend of trap, hip hop and improvisation that truly shows off the artistry of the live remix. Keys N Krates collage raw samples and twist them with live instrumentation, creating a unique party sound. KNK blends clever sample collaging, epic synths, big bass, and funky drum grooves into a sonically unified collection of songs.
KNK has been featured in such publications as URB, Fader, and Antenna magazine. They have toured with and played alongside artists including Pretty Lights, Lotus, Skrillex, Girl Talk, Kid Cudi, Metric, Timbaland, Zed's Dead and more. In 2011/12, the band broke out on the festival scene, playing Ultra Music Festival, Camp Bisco, Electric Forest, North Coast, Moe's Summer Camp, Re-Generation and Blues Fest. After producing distinctive remixes of songs by artists such as MGMT, Jay Z, Bassnectar, Diplo, Drake, and Florence + The Machine, Keys N Krates were commissioned to create official remixes for Lotus, Lyrics Born, and OK GO.
To really grasp what Tune, Matisse and Jr. Flo bring to the stage, you have to see it up close. Their shows are filled with high-energy sets that are made to be witnessed live. The guys continue to craft and grow their sound and style, exposing audiences worldwide to the Keys N Krates experience.
What separates Break Science from the other bands in 2011's burgeoning electronic scene? Try over 30 years combined experience in music, performing with and producing many of today's hottest artists and living legends. Adam Deitch and Borahm Lee have worked with premier artists- everyone from Wyclef Jean and the Fugees, Raekwon
and GZA of the Wu Tang Clan, to reggae/dub legend Lee Scratch Perry and
Miles Davis collaborator John Scofield.
Raised in the cultural hotbed of New York City, Deitch and Lee fuse the city's rich musical legacy- jazz, funk, soul, with a deep-rooted connection to its hip-hop heritage to create their own take on modern electronic music. Armed with Deitch's thunderous breakbeat style on the drums and Lee's seasoned trip-hop/dub aesthetic on keyboards and laptop, their instrumental styles are perfectly interwoven within their beautiful, banging and extremely danceable tracks. This sound is bound to make a major mark on the modern musical landscape.
Jonathan Belfontaine, otherwise known as Outlet, was destined to make music from the very beginning. At the young age of 13, Jon was given a guitar by a neighbor. Soon afterward, he stumbled upon a broken amp, took it apart and put it back together into working condition, his drive for music was strong enough for him to learn amp repair before learning an A cord. How Jon learned guitar and music in general began with the records of his parents, tapes and the radio these were Jon's main teachers, he trained himself to pick out notes, and play along with any song.
Over the years, he's really had fun with this idea of learning any song first pass as he calls it he is often found playing along to different radio stations and sitting in with various bands when ever they let him jam with them. Jon has been a member of many different rock bands, most notably the group Hate Radio, Something and Mantra but his musical interest never stopped at just the guitar, always picking up a bass or a set of drumsticks. He's been known to show up at blues Jams and leave his guitar in the car walking in with drum sticks and rock the kit for a few. While being influenced in different genres of rock, he also became deeply integrated into the electronic scene.
The idea of blending so many of his favorite musical styles and the limitless ideas that can come from a pair of headphones and a synthesizer was all it took to spark his interest in EDM. Summer of 1997 he bought his first 16 track sequencer and was learning the ropes, experimenting with making music from scratch that was all his own, with psychedelic melodies and hypnotic tones, empowered with heavy bass lines. If you look for it you'll find some of these early Outlet sessions online. After a brief hiatus starting in 2007, his burning passion was reignited when he and his soul mate Elisabeth Marcoux went to 2008's Rothbury Music Festival in Michigan. Hearing the mind blowing artists perform with such love and high energy, and being immersed in the unified and uplifted crowd, sparked Jon's need to make music again.
The discovery of Ableton Live, allowed him to explode into creativity again, being a ten year veteran to digital computer software such as Cubase and Cakewalk, Ableton's cutting edgeness really allowed Jon to dive right into it this time integrating the sounds of hip hop, soul, funk and trance. He has now been producing a dance oriented, groove inspired, glitchy style of music that is energetic, passionate and fun. Of course, infusing his positive vibrations healing frequencies and inspiring light, baked into every morsel of each tantalizing song. The concoction of organic sounds whipped and blended with original bass lines and drum patterns, along with his ability to manipulate the texture and flavor of each synthesized note will leave the listener delighted in savoring every delicious layer baked into every song!
Arriving out of seemingly nowhere, he's one of those names that you could have easily slept on. One day he's off at school playing local parties under a different moniker, and the next he's off earning his way to the forefront of the nu-disco world. With little to no outside help, this success story started with a perfectly tuned remix of Duck Sauce' forthcoming single "Goody Two Shoes", which eventually found himself sitting atop of the ever so powerful Hype Machine charts. The first of many upcoming Hype Machine topping releases, Viceroy has now found himself being featured on nearly every blog in existence including the famed MTV, Fresh New Tracks, Gotta Dance Dirty, Vacay Vitamins, All Things Go, This Song Is Sick, and many more.
With a slew of chart topping releases on various labels including his well received pop-gem "Chase Us Around", a collaboration with rising singer/songwriter Madi Diaz, the dance floor filling, Beatport Chart topping "Only Takes", and a large section of official remixes for such well established artists as Passion Pit, Two Door Cinema Club, Yelle, The Knocks, The Penelopes, St Lucia, Ghost Beach, and more – Viceroy has assured that he is here to stay.
Now, after headlining shows across the country as a part of multiple headlining tours, touring both USA, Canada, South & Central America, an upcoming Australian tour, and appearances on a number of festival stages, multiple #1 tracks on the coveted Hype Machine charts, sharing the stage with such names as Diplo, Theophilus London, Miami Horror, Oliver, Plastic Plates and Treasure Fingers, while finding support from such names as Diplo, RAC, Goldroom, Treasure Fingers, Lenno, and more, Viceroy has began to teach even the coldest soul that it can in fact be, "Summertime, All The Time".
Growing up in the rough and tumble streets of suburban Duxbury, Massachusetts, felons Roman Perry and Pat Flynn, have taken their knowledge of thug life and crime and have given birth to a project called Crime Pays. Roman Perry, who just was just released from a stint at Rikers, has been DJing since 2009.
Pat Flynn, previously known as PD-Killa, discovered music production and making beats while on house arrest a number of years ago. Since then Flynn, who had been offered an initiation with the Crips, has found something that has kindly pulled him away from his previously desired life style.
After years of turmoil, hustling, and theft, Perry and Flynn looked to music as an escape from the unwelcoming perils of the hood. In an effort to elude a life of incarceration, the pair looked to such artists as Justice, Boyz Noize, The Bloody Beetroots, and Crookers as a means of inspiration. Since then, the two have cleaned up their act and put down the 9mms and come together in a collaboration ironically titled Crime Pays. Crime Pays, which pulls sounds from rock bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and The Who, come as close to heavy Rock n Roll as electronic music can get. Crime Pays has created a sound that integrates Dubstep, Funk, Disco, Rock n Roll, and Hard Electro. When they’re not cruising around town on hydraulics scoping out ho’s, they’re in the studio pushing the limits of electronic music. Although Perry and Flynn have left thug life behind, they still up hold the motto: Fuck Bitches, Get Money.
