Born in the woods of Connecticut and raised in the wilds of Boston, lespecial has established themselves as innovators and tastemakers on their own unique trajectory. The aggressive death-funk dance trio explodes with energetic live sets, tapping into a primitive past distorted through the lense of contemporary technology. Their debut full length album “Omnisquid”, out November 20th 2015, captures the band (at their heaviest,) interweaving dark, heavy, polyrhythmic grooves with head bobbing electronic synths and samplers augmented with fierce, precise musicianship, creating an apocalyptic backdrop for the sci-fi storyline. Preceded by their Ceremony EP (2013) and Playonbrother Sessions (2011), Jonathan Grusauskas (guitar/synth/sampler/vocals), Luke Bemand (bass/synth) and Rory Dolan (drums/sampler) ignore convention, instead amalgamating the familiar styles of Afro-Latin rhythmic traditions, Hip Hop, Funk and Metal into a singular sound that dexterously transforms during their live sets and over the course of their studio albums. As Ben Weiss of Relix Magazine puts it, “Amidst the rest of the noise, lespecial is the squeaky wheel that demands attention.”
The Edd is a group of four musicians based out of Burlington, VT who are quickly making both friends and a name for themselves everywhere they play. Their music is a unique combination of both highly improvised exploration of sound and extremely tight, often complexly structured, original songs. In crafting their music, they demonstrate mastery of unusual sounds, scales and time signatures as they both blend seamlessly between and ignore traditional genres as we know
them. The result is nothing short of spectacular weird music that captures and moves audiences of all preferences.
