Chicago’s Great Divide is a rock ‘n ’soul band full of passion, spontaneity and groove. They released their self-titled, sophomore record on March 5, 2013 - Think Motown meets Muscle Shoals, stoppin' by Stax on the way up to Levon's Ramble.
Produced by Dan McMahon and Darren Garvey (Cory Chisel) and engineered by James Auwarter (Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Rihanna, John Legend), who also recruited some gospel singers from the Chicago’s South Side, Great Divide is an ambitious affair, moving effortlessly from soul to pop to funk, all tied together by songwriter/vocalist Teddy Grossman’s lyrical openness and his way with a hook.
With multiple appearances at festivals like SXSW, North Coast Music Festival, Milwaukee Summerfest, and renowned venues across the midwest and east coast, Great Divide currently has its sights set on getting on the road in support of the the record.
The Ballroom Thieves
In January 2012 The Ballroom Thieves broke into the Boston folk scene with a five-song, foot-stomping EP entitled The Devil & The Deep. Since their debut release the trio has captivated audiences with their unique instrumentation and dazzling three-part vocal harmonies. In the span of just one year they have performed at over 30 colleges nationwide, shared the stage with established acts such as Joe Fletcher and The Apache Relay, and played to sold-out crowds at the Lizard Lounge, Great Scott, and the historic Club Passim in Cambridge, MA.
The Ballroom Thieves consistently deliver inspiring live performances highlighted by the group's infectious passion and raw energy, which are unrivaled in the local folk music scene. The sonic diversity of their growing repertoire allows the band to entrance an intimate listening room one night and entertain a large festival crowd the next.
Travel Lanes was created on a whim.....or a series of whims. Answering, or commenting to a Craigslist ad, led to the formation of the group. Four guys deciding to meet in a room to play music was an accomplishment in itself. A well-received EP was quickly recorded over the space of a year in 2013.
With comparisons made to the sound of The Replacements, Elvis Costello, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Nick Lowe and Graham Parker, Travel Lanes combines a mix of power pop and rock, with hooks, lyrics, melodies and harmonies.
Another full length record under our belt landed us in The Philadelphia Inquirers’ top 10 Philly records of 2015, and we have happily managed to continue to write new music, play multiple shows with guest musicians, and we even have some surprises up our sleeves for 2016 and beyond. Stay tuned…
