Dying Fetus is a brutal death metal band formed in 1991 in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, United States.
Dying Fetus's music is a hybrid of death metal and grindcore, characterized by extremely fast blast beats, complex riffing and slow breakdowns. Lyrics-wise, the band dabbled in the usual gory death metal subject matter on their early albums, and respectfully covered "Born in a Casket," a song originally written by famous death metal band Cannibal Corpse. By 2000's Destroy the Opposition, however, they shifted towards politically driven lyrics. Their lyrics are often left-wing, mostly consisting of aggressive critique addressed towards things such as religion, corporations, consumerism and war. Their fusion of death and grind is called Slam.
San Francisco's Exhumed plays gore-obsessed death metal with a tongue-in-cheek flair and an overall musical approach that are often reminiscent of Carcass, a band whom they have frequently acknowledged as a primary influence. They have endured constant lineup changes to become, if not a highly original act, at least one of the better representatives of their doomed-to-obscurity subgenre. The band formed in 1991 with a lineup consisting of Matt Harvey (guitar, vocals), Col Jones (drums), Derrel Houdashelt (guitar), Jake Giardina (vocals), and Ben Marrs (bass). They made their first recordings under this formation, including the Excreting Innards 7" for Afterworld Records. Giardina and Marrs left the band within the next few years, with Matt Widener (bass) and Ross Sewage (vocals) brought in as replacements. After recording the Horrific Expulsion of Gore demo (1994), Widener left and Sewage took over bass duties. This lineup eventually recorded a split CD with the Ohio band Hemdale, In the Name of Gore, which came out on Visceral Productions in 1995 and featured an absolutely revolting album cover. Soon after, Houldashelt left and was eventually replaced by Mike Beams. With this lineup intact, they signed to Relapse Records and finally released their first official full-length, Gore Metal, in 1998, with guitarist James Murphy (Death, Obituary) at the production helm. Sewage left the band shortly after this record, leaving the trio of Harvey, Beams, and Jones to record the follow-up, Slaughtercult. The album was released on Relapse in 2000 and was enthusiastically received among the death metal scene
WAKING THE CADAVER
Dirty Jerz deathcore.
The reigning kings of destructive hardcore metal, have brought forth yet another testament to their sheer brutality: The Venomous Grand Design. Ever since their emergence from the Cleveland metal scene, Ringworm has garnered the immediate attention of hardcore metal fans, leading them to spots on tour with bands such as Blood For Blood, Hatebreed, and Terror. Ringworm displays an awesome ferocity in the power of their instruments, and vocalist the Human Furnace uses his voice as a tool to extract the diabolical nature of anyone who hears it.
Ringworm was spawned in 1991 from the metal scene in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1993, the band released The Promise on Incision Records, finding their place amongst other hardcore metal heavyweights such as Terror and Earth Crisis. However, despite this early success, Ringworm decided to pursue personal ventures, the Human Furnace concentrated his focus on tattooing and his artwork, while other members joined up with hardcore legends Integrity. Nearly 10 years later, 2001 saw Ringworm emerge from their dark place in the shadows with their critically acclaimed Victory Record's debut: Birth Is Pain. Extensive touring followed, although this was interrupted by personal ventures, as the Human Furnace owns a chain of tattoo shops, and guitarist Frankie "3 Gun" Novinec was touring with fellow hardcore deity, Terror. However, 4 years later, Justice Replaced By Revenge was released. Following their extensive touring in support of their latest album, Ringworm made record time recording their latest offering: The Venomous Grand Design.
Abiotic is an American progressive, technical death metal band from Miami, Florida that has recently signed to Metal Blade Records. The five-piece group consists of vocalist Ray Jimenez, bassist Alex Vazquez, drummer Andres Hurtado and guitarists Matt Mendez and Johnathan Matos. The band has released two singles and a seven song studio EP entitled 'A Universal Plague'. "Vermosapien", the second track on the EP, has recently been featured on the quintet's first music video, directed by Dan Drescher.
Abiotic is agressive, melodic, technical and musical, to say the least. They've been compared to bands like The Faceless and Veil of Maya. Mixing technical riffs, brutal break downs, and solos that will leave you breathless, makes this five-piece assault an act that fans won't ever want to miss.
Evil slam from the depths of NY.
Providence, Rhode Island's HOWL ushers in a new age of iron and steel with their Relapse debut Full of Hell. Wave after wave of the quartet's devastating riffs pound hard as tracks 'Horns of Steel,' 'Jezebel,' 'The Scorpion's Last Sting' and the insidious crawl of 'Heavenless' make clear. Full of Hell rocks hard and heavy, and is as unrelenting as the title implies. Call Of The Void
Call Of The Void's crust and grind elements seamlessly merge to conjure visions of grind godfathers Napalm Death and Pig Destroyer while effortlessly treading the abrasive caustic nature of Converge's hybrid progressive hardcore and Mastodon's technical metal-tinged rock mastery.
