Four Nippon Girls METAL GROOVIN', WILD - SEX, SUSHI and ROCK 'N' ROLL! "RIFF HEAVY POST-PUNK ANTHEMS!"
Yoko, Saki, Hitomi and The Gooch are four Japanese girls who laugh and yell at each other all the time. The riff-heavy, post-punk anthems of Hard Nips coalesce from jabbing, overdriven guitar and bass lines, big straight beats, and Yoko’s prepubescent straining.
Each of the Nips came to live in New York at different times, from different parts of Japan. And, as conspired by the ever-dextrous hand of fate, they were to cross paths and become fast friends. Hard Nips have released 2 albums, one vinyl and “Fortune cookie MP3” (you can eat the cookies!). Hitomi joined Hard Nips as a new drummer and it has drawn increasing attention via their colorful and kinetic live performances. Late August 2013, Saki will also join Hard Nips replacing Mariko (on guitar).
Demonstrative Girls' high energy live show will make you reevaluate your cardio routine. Drawing heavily from riot grrrl and punk, the sound is hard and fast with a surf undercurrent tugging you out to sea, or at least the dance floor. The Pretty Greens
The Pretty Greens (Philadelphia, PA)
Feminist art-garage pop-punk. Julia on bass & vocals, Kool Schmool on guitar and vocals, and Carly (No Other) on drums and vocals. Everything from girl-group inspiration to shout-y feminist refrain and cat-eye-inspired couture. Heavy fuzz-bass, angular guitar, and bang-on beats. The trio just released a single "Jealous Waves" on February Records. "listeners can picture their sound bouncing off the walls in any local basement or house show; it has raw vocals, a surfer sound and steady guitar riffs and a punchy drum beat, but with easily identifiable 80s punk / new wave nods to The Go-Gos and Blondie."- Patricia Madej-WXPN The Key
