Built on friendship and a shared taste in music, Hotel Oscar is a rock n’ roll band that lets the music do the talking. Even their name was carefully chosen because it comes without preconceived notions, allowing the listener to reach their own conclusions.
Members Mose Wilson (Guitar/Lead Vocals), Joe Bradford (Bass/Vocals), and Clint Moreland (Drums/Vocals) formed Hotel Oscar in March 2011 in Destin, Florida. In December 2012 multi-instrumentalist Isaac Eady joined, completing the lineup.
It began with a chance meeting at an open mic night to become one of the region's most talked about bands. At the time, Joe was playing guitar but hearing Mose's original songs convinced him to play bass. "I picked it up pretty quick," says Joe. "It turns out I should have been a bass player all long."
In June of 2011, only three months after the band’s formation, Hotel Oscar recorded their first album ‘Burger & Fries’. It was well received and launched the band further onto the regional circuit. It was voted as the Best Album at the 2012 Beachcomber Music Awards.
"We try not to be held down to a single style of music, but a lot of what we do is influenced by older music styles," explains Mose. Citing influences as wide reaching as Wilco, The Band, and Otis Redding, they aim to write songs that tell stories like the folk greats and incorporate funky grooves that will leave you hooked.
Playing more than a 100 shows each year, Hotel Oscar wins over audiences across the Southern states. They lose themselves in the music, making it apparent that they love what they are doing. High energy performances showcase their unique blend of blues, american, and jam band elements, which dots their original songs. As Clint puts it, "We feel each other musically, if one wants to change or something, it is really natural for us to find each other."
The band’s sophomore release ‘Rock ‘n Roll Graveyard’ was recorded at the famed Bomb Shelter Studio in Nashville Tennessee, by Andrija Tokic and will be release in May 2013. "We wanted to capture the analog style," says Mose. "Everything is real and done in house."
That is the heart of Hotel Oscar; a band out to craft genuine music.
Hotel Oscar draws influence from 60's and 70's artists like Bob Dylan, The Band, The Talking Heads, and The Kinks as well as modern groups like Wilco and My Morning Jacket. The "Rock N' Roll Graveyard Tour 2012" will kick off this fall and will include many cities within the Southeast.
