Find Your Muse Open Mic
Find Your Muse Open Mic is Charlotte's premier open mic night. Each week we feature a special guest performer from around the region. Come out and see some of the area's best up & coming talent perform their latest original tunes. Always a fun time, hosted by the semi-hilarious Mr. Erik Button. Look forward to the start of a great Monday night at 7:30pm as you are greeted by the rest of our FYM team; Aaaaron at the door, Donniebaseball behind the bar serving up cold ones, and Normal Dennis doing his best at making it all sound great from behind the board. Sign ups are at 7:45, so come out and get your time slot. Participate in The "Bad-Ass" of the Week, and maybe win a $20 gift card.
For Matt Holmes, it’s been a long time coming. The man that’s been keeping the rock-steady rhythm behind many bands burning up the scene is finally stepping over the drum kit, clasping the mic and unleashing his own sound.
Having shared stages with acts like country superstar Corey Smith, platinum-selling singer/songwriter Edwin McCain, Carolina staples the Blue Dogs and Southern guitar-slingerTaylor Moore, Matt’s on track to continue rattling the Southeast.
The Latest LP "All New Scars", from his band Youth Model is a booming, ready-for-radio blend of pop and rock in the vein of The Black Keys, OKGO and The Lumineers. At times it’s been described as “rumbling, sweeping and imagery-laden,” while at other times just simply “sweet,” with a nod toward the female/male harmonies and contrast.
Holmes handled all songwriting and composing duties, as well as vocals, drums and other percussion. Columbia, SC siren, Laurel MacCallum, lent her vocals on the duets “Better Way” and "Break" while engineer, producer and recording ace Kenny McWilliams tracked bass, guitars, keys and backing vocals.
You can expect to see him and his band coming to a town near you soon.
