In the summer of 2009 Carbon Tigers began to receive recognition by playing shows around the downtown Chicago area, including Subterranean, Metro, Beat Kitchen, Schuba's and several shows on campus at Columbia College. In April of 2010 they were awarded with the title "Chicago Winner of the 2010 College Battle Of The Bands presented by AT&T" and later won 1st place at Columbia College's Biggest Mouth Competition in 2011.
Carbon Tigers has opened for international and touring acts such as Biffy Clyro, The Cool Kids, Maritime, Moving Mountains, Kilimanjaro, Explode Into Colors, and many more. They are currently playing shows in the Midwest area to promote their self released debut EP, The Burrows, and the first of their home recorded series, The Dover Sessions, Vol. I: What I Say & What I Mean.
On Your Marx
Founding members of the original lineup; Roger Chavez, Kevin Lustrup, Peter K. Thorne, Steve Katz and Tim Schuett are anything but ellusive in projecting what has been there love for years.
Bringing Ska to the people.
With a little help from some old friends, while making new ones along the way, OYM
spent the months between January 2009 and September 2010 recording a new album which they hope will be their
crowning achievement in an attempt to write the next great Ska classic.
With more than 15 musicians featured on the album, OYM has strived to grab what’s
great from every genre of ska, reggae, 2 tone, dub, and ska-core to make the most diverse ska record to date.
With content ranging from the most personal inside jokes, to the universal feelings
toward hate, fear, violence, love, and lament, OYM labors to speak to all of us on one level or another.
Mike Jansen - Vocals / Guitar
Markham Jenkins - Guitar
Johnny Walker - Bass
Chad Van Dahm - Drums
Cobalt and the Hired Guns
Cobalt & the Hired Guns is about love and guts, energy and enthusiasm – refusing to pretend they aren’t having fun.
Friends since they were just little buckaroos, the boys of Cobalt & the Hired Guns have always aspired to create an album to match their rambunctious live shows. It’s finally here! Their new record, Everybody Wins!, aims for the rafters with a cherry bomb explosion of poppy punk, barroom ballads, power pop, Ska, horny rock and good humor. Following up 2008’s Jump the Fence – their first Carbon Neutral album- Everybody Wins! continues the tradition of the band’s commitment to art and environmentalism- and includes their fullest lineup of 20 different players (not all at the same time).
The repertoire for this five-to-twelve piece from Chicago has been described as Americana, Punky Pop, or just Good Ol’ Fashioned Rock n’ Roll. They’ve been compared to The Hold Steady, The Clash, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, The Fratellis, Frightened Rabbit, Backyard Tire Fire, and “Wilco on Xanax covering The Clash”
Cobalt & the Hired Guns plays at venues and clubs all over Chicago, including The Metro, Schuba’s, Cubby Bear, Double Door and Subterranean with bands such as State Radio, I Fight Dragons, Josh Ritter, Baby Teeth, Dashboard Confessional and Big D and the Kids’ Table to name just a few.
‘Everybody Wins!’ is now available in internet stores everywhere.
Vinyl Theatre, Milwaukee’s electronic rock group, brings a live show unforgettable to those who experience it. The band bridges the gap between indie rock and electronic dance music resulting in a blend of sounds in the realm of Death Cab For Cutie meets Passion Pit. They have headlined The Miramar Theater, Bastille Days, Shank Hall as well as opened for national touring acts twenty one pilots, Five Knives, and Quiet Company. Vinyl Theatre has also been featured in Frontiers LA, MadeLoud, JSOnline, and was picked Band of the Month at Breaking and Entering. Vinyl Theatre’s single “I Need You Here” was world premiered on California’s KX 93.5FM in Laguna Beach where their music is in regular rotation. Their music is also receiving heavy airplay in the UK and Europe as well as on Milwaukee’s own FM 102.1 and Marquette’s university radio station. Vinyl Theatre has released two EPs and has plans to record a full length album in the winter.
