In her 7 years of spinning, Liz Ladoux (formerly known as Ms Thang) has established a reputation as one of the top female DJs in the United States, playing everything from poolside parties in Las Vegas to nightclubs in Mexico City to ringing in NYE 2012 behind the decks in Beijing, China.
Musically inclined from an early age, Liz studied ballet and singing when she was a young girl, eventually discovering her love for the turntables as a teenager via her male friends, who were busy collecting vinyl and throwing underground parties. Once the decision was made to commit herself to the craft, Liz purchased her own pair of Technics and began practicing for hours every day, using a mentor’s Hip Hop and Reggae records to learn the basics. What started out as simply a hobby based on love of music and a need for a creative outlet ultimately evolved into a full time career as a DJ. Initially working at small venues in her hometown of Boston, Liz quickly gained the respect of her peers and local promoters, her name becoming synonymous with style, seamless mixes, and a surprising versatility. While distinguishing herself as a musical taste maker, she became something of a media darling in her city, receiving such accolades as Improper Bostonian’s “Best DJ” in 2008, dubbed urban culture and fashion innovators Karmaloop’s “Chick of the Month” in 2009, a feature and cover for Stuff at Night’s inaugural “Sexiest” issue in 2010, selected as one of Boston Globe’s “25 Most Stylish Bostonians” in 2010, as well as a cover and feature in Boston Globe’s “G Style” in 2011.
Her signature sound is a well rounded blend of old and new, spanning the spectrum of genres, incorporating everything from House, Disco, Electro, Hip Hop, Funk and Soul, and Top 40/Pop into her sets. She focuses on reading the crowd and setting the appropriate mood, relishing the unique relationship between DJ and Dance Floor.
Working with some of the world’s leading brands, Liz has created aural atmospheres for W Hotels, Maxim Magazine, Jean Paul Gaultier, the Toronto International Film Festival, and many more. Currently based in Europe, she is consistently asked to provide the soundtrack for high profile corporate events, industry parties, and fashion shows, while maintaining a busy schedule at various nightclubs, throughout the U.S.A. and internationally. A perfect combination of party-rocking skills and sexy charisma, Liz Ladoux destroys gender-based stereotypes, dominating DJ booths in her own city and beyond.
