Misisipi Mike's Possum Players
Misisipi Mike Wolf and the Midnight Gamblers are known far and wide as one of the hottest original live Outlaw Country/Southern Boogie/Honky Tonk bands.
Based in Northern California, they are a six piece band that can tear it up on the stage and in the studio. Led by the internationally touring singer and songwriter Mike Wolf, they are both of the moment and timeless
SuperModal (Evie Ladin & friends)
The polyrhythmic heat of Evie Ladin's clawhammer banjo, resonant voice, real stories and rhythmic dance - have been heard from A Prairie Home Companion to Celtic Connections, Lincoln Center to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. Known as a driving force behind San Francisco's Stairwell Sisters, Evie's solo debut Float Downstream (2010), co-produced by Mike Marshall and Keith Terry, was quickly followed by Evie Ladin Band (2012), nominated for Americana Album of the Year by the Independent Music Awards.
You don't often hear words like "traditional," and "authentic" paired with "innovative" and "unique," but Evie Ladin has brought them together brilliantly in the self-titled, debut album of the Evie Ladin Band, and the result is truly a high point in new old-time music. Folkworks
The Drifter Sisters
When a bluegrass fiddler and an old-timey singer discover a mutual passion for honky-tonk and country classics, they’re bound to make some tasty noise. Add in the ace harmonies of a honky-tonk guitarist and you've got the Drifter Sisters: Bay Area-bred beauties Robin Fischer (red-hot fiddle stylings), Allegra Thompson (classic country crooning), and Hailey Pexton (fast & flashy flatpicking).
The trio draws its material from the rhythm-driven melodies (and sometimes off-color lyrics) of George Jones, Rose Maddox, Buck Owens, and Hazel Dickens, as well as traditional old-time fiddle tunes and bluegrass standards. Genre-bending in the California style, they’ve cherry-picked music that appeals to their blend of faux-intellectualism and love of silliness. Above all else, these gals are in it for a good time.
