Los Straitjackets, Southern Culture on the Skids, The Fleshtones

Southern Culture on the Skids

True to their name, North Carolina's Southern Culture on the Skids offers an affectionate parody of local white-trash trailer-park culture, matching their skewed outlook with a wild, careening brand of rock & roll. SCOTS' music is a quintessentially Southern-fried amalgam of rockabilly, boogie, country, blues, swamp pop, and chitlin circuit R&B, plus a liberal dose of California surf guitar and a hint of punk attitude.

Following an early incarnation as a relatively straightforward roots rock outfit, they morphed into a raucous, sleazy, tongue-in-cheek party band obsessed with sex and food; in fact, fried chicken became a crucial part of their live performances, whether it was used in eating contests or tossed into the audience.

Los Straitjackets featuring Deke Dickerson

The World's #1 Instrumental Combo team up with roots-music legend Deke Dickerson. They will be playing material from their brand new album "Los Straitjackets: Deke Dickerson Sings The Instrumental Hits" but expect plenty of surf-honky tonk- rockabilly-garage madness as these twang-masters join forces for the most entertaining show you'll see all year.

When it comes to delivering high-energy rock and roll instrumental music, no one equals the finesse, power and perseverance of Grammy-nominated Los Straitjackets. It’s been 20 years since the Nashville-bred band first dressed in their easily recognizable attire of Lucha Libre masks. Since then the group has toured around the world, released 11 studio albums, finding to time to record and tour with El Vez, Dave Alvin, The Reverend Horton Heat, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers and Big Sandy-- to name just a few.

Deke Dickerson has kept the flame alive for real rock & roll, since he was the frontman for Missouri's legendary Untamed Youth. Since then every project (including his The Dave and Deke Combo, The Go Nuts, Blind Rage and Violence) Deke pursues has brought his unparalleled musicianship and flair for entertainment to the forefront. He has collaborated with many of his heroes including Duane Eddy, Larry Collins of The Collins Kids, Randy Fuller (of the Bobby Fuller Four) and The Trashmen. His work as bandleader at the Ponderosa Stomp and ringmaster of the Guitar Geek festivals, and as an author have helped keep the spotlight shown on the first generations of rock & rollers.

The Fleshtones

Since the summer of 1976 the Fleshtones have been blending rock & roll with R&B, and garage with dance and serving it from town to town across the globe with a smile, a great attitude, and lots of late-night sweat. For years, they've simply called it Super Rock.

The Fleshtones are Peter Zaremba (vocals, harmonica, & organ), Keith Streng (guitar & vocals), Bill Milhizer (drums & vocals), and Ken Fox (bass & vocals). Based in Brooklyn, the quartet's origins lie just a few miles north in Queens, where in 1975 Streng and original bass player Marek Pakulski rented "The House," as it was infamously known, and found instruments down in the basement. To quote Keith: "How and why the Fleshtones started was that there was a place to do it!" Countless "Blue Whale Bashes," Lower East Side sightings, and an endless string of gigs and records later, the Fleshtones continue to record and perform with a wit, passion, and energy that few bands can top.

Remember, The Fleshtones can't change their luck, but they can change your mind! Come on in, and let's have a good time!
