This event is 21 and over
Waylon Speed is the convergence of four musicians from Burlington, Vermont, bringing their unstoppable no frills country-metal blend of rock to a rapidly growing horde of devoted fans nationwide. The formation of this band could not have come at a better time. Seemingly overnight, they have become a staple in the music community, equipped with a full pallet of all original music. Since their formation in April 2009, Waylon Speed has been touring extensively and picking up new fans like truck tires pick up mud. In support of their debut release, Georgia Overdrive, Waylon Speed toured the east coast of the US two times over. They have a nationwide tour planned for 2011 in support of their sophomore release 'Horseshoes and Hand Grenades'. Members have shared bills with national touring acts such as Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Blues Traveler, Little Feat, My Morning Jacket, Junior Brown, Del McCoury, and Les Claypool. With relentless determination and positive driven attitudes, Waylon Speed is setting the bar for originality and genre-stepping with a firm rooted belief that live music has been, still is, and will always remain alive and well worldwide. "Gas on the fire of the current music scene,"It's heavy, fiery country rock, for those who like their punk rock with some twang in it — but also appreciate high quality, intelligent songwriting" "Waylon Speed is not all that different from metal, punk or any other style of music that's got a knife-in-the-boot attitude" to name just a few things being said in the press to describe this perfectly formulated foundation of true brotherhood known as Waylon Speed.
Sam Pace and the Gilded Grit
Sam Pace is a soul musician and rock n' roll performer. Now residing in Austin, Texas, Pace spent four years in Chicago before his move south.
After four years with the explosive rock n' roll unit Blackdog (two in Madison, WI, two in Chicago)- Pace broke away in the Summer of 2009 to work on his Solo debut album: "Let the Big Dog Eat".
With the release of his full length debut album in January of 2011, Pace moved to Austin hellbent on upholding his conviction for the roots and power of soul based music.
In May of 2011, Pace met two young musicians by the names of Jake Causey and Patrick Sanderson. With Causey on drums and Sanderson on bass, the three got down to work immediately and formed the band which would later be called: Sam Pace and the Gilded Grit.
After months of rehearsals and gigs, the band released it's first set of songs in January of 2012.
In the summer of 2012, Pace and the Grit released their debut album, "The Feelin'". Shortly after they embarked on a national tour that took them all over the eastern and middle parts of the United States.
Their style dips into all types of soulful music including: Rock, Blues, Roots, Reggae and Soul.
"We play Rock n' Roll smooth and dirty, Soul music mean, and we're not afraid to get a little weird," says Pace.
"The hope is that we keep working, working, working; and in the process leave behind some authentic and meaningful music."
In December of 2012 the Grit brought in new drummer Seth Fasske. Regulars around the Austin scene, SP and Double G can be seen all over the Live Music Capital of the World, playing 3 to 4 gigs a week at rotating venues.
In 2013, the band looks to eclipse 160 shows, embark on their second national tour in as many years, and prepare for their third album, to be recorded and released in 2014.
