Pluto's Still a Planet

Pluto's Still a Planet

Pluto's Still a Planet is a funk rock foursome that resides in the college town of Columbia Missouri. Adam Weber, Paul Gray, Eric Wiedemeier and Rob Pikey all currently attend the University of Missouri Columbia. Adam Paul and Eric all went to high school together and were involved in the local music scene. Adam and Eric got a place together in 2009 and immediately started brewing up some ingredient riffs and created a few original songs. Paul, being a close friend had soon jumped into the mix and added some sweet yet spicy licks to the blend. Rob, having extensive experience with music, happened to come across the guys on campus and laid down the tempo for what is now known to be "Pluto's Still A Planet"! Since October of 2011, the four musical chefs have been serving up some tasty dishes and have developed a good following in the Columbia and St. Louis areas. The band is currently working on their freshman album, tentatively titled "Gravitron", set to release in December 2012.

The Passion

The Passion are a post-punk and new wave-influenced band from Columbia, Missouri, USA. The band's debut, self-titled album on Hometone Records received extensive airplay on nearly 200 college and community radio stations across the country. The Passion have shared the stage with The Secret Machines, White Rabbits, British Sea Power, Dr. Dog, The Soup Dragons, Kaito UK, The Lucksmiths, The Fixx, The Quails, Gene Loves Jezebel and many more. The band's latest album "All My Yesterdays" is out now!

Envy The Cookbook

With an emphasis on improvisation along with true to the art jamming, Envy the Cookbook had its start in the local Columbia scene in Missouri, near the University of Missouri. The band is made up by Curt Singer (Drums), Frank Ladish (Guitar/Keys/Vocals), Jake Gandlmyr (Auxiliary Percussion), Jeff Clayton (Bass), Taylor Perkins (Guitar/Vocals) and Ryan Benthall (Keys/Synth). The members all attended Rockwood Summit High School but took different routes both in their college and musical careers. In a throw-together jam session, the members were convinced they needed others to hear their work. Envy's music blends intense guitar solos with funky melodies and intricate key signatures to create a full-textured sound that's catchy to its audience. Influences such as Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Beatles, and Umphrey's McGee show up without overpowering their own creativity. The band shows pride in saying they try to create new experiences for their audiences by never playing a song the same way twice. While the band is currently doing shows in the St. Louis and Columbia areas, they hope to expand in the near future. With impressive stage presence and good-feel down to earth jamming, they're sure to bring repeat listeners.

Collegiate Shag Brass Band

Mid-Missouri's flagship brass band. Traditional brass band instrumentation with a very non-traditional approach.

In 2005, The Collegiate Shag started as a Jazz Ensemble at the University of Missouri-Columbia inspired by The Dirty Dozen and Youngblood Brass Band. The idea hasn't changed since the inception: good music, big brass. With original tunes inspired by wide- ranged influences from Queen, Nobuo Uematsu, Grover Washington Jr. and James Brown, as well as covers of Tito Puente, The Seatbelts, Trombone Shorty, and Ozomatli, Columbia's flagship brass band is up and out, live and loud.
