Carnivale Delirium IV
The NorthWests's own premiere operatic tenor, accordionist, pianist, composer, and consummate showman; an unparalleled devo with incendiary stage presence and devilish virtuosity. Eric Stern has appeared with The Decemberists, Pink Martini, Balkan Beat Box, on NPR, and performed at the Kennedy Center, The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, Joe's Pub in NYC, and internationally from Paris to Poland. Eric Stern is best known for being the founder and artistic director of Vagabond Opera, an ensemble that has achieved worldwide success. Vagabond Opera was created in 2002 by this U.S. and European-trained opera singer and composer. Then disillusioned with the classical opera world, Stern created a new context for opera: Performance on a more intimate scale incorporating not only opera but elements of Weimar Cabaret, Arabic and Balkan forms, and the original music that springs from the ensemble's fertile creative work.
One of the premier, innovative burlesque-belly dance fusion artists on the West Coast, Karolina Lux is an acclaimed performer, instructor, choreographer, and vaudeville-style musician. Karolina Lux has opened for, or worked with such groups as Beats Antique, Wanderlust Circus, Sinn Savvy Burlesque, Vagabond Opera, Symbiosis Festival, Moisture Festival, Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel, Oregon Country Faire Vaudeville and Gypsy Stages, Belly Dance Soulfire, Suhaila Salimpour Repertoire Ensemble, and recently co-produced her own belly dance/circus fusion touring show, The Mata Hari Hustle. She has appeared on DVDs by Cheeky Girls Productions and Hollywood Music Center, taught and performed "Belly-esque" and other theatrical dance styles at festivals from NYC to San Francisco, and is the Breakthrough Fusion Champion 2012 and Best Alternative/Tribal Soloist (Ya Halla Y'all) 2011. Karolina Lux also studied dance and music at University of Massachusetts and San Francisco State University.
