Dear or Die.
Warships are an indie pop band from Los Angeles. The quintet's mix of laid back pop grooves and earnest, playful song-craft is a contrast to many of their contemporaries. Soon after forming, they attracted the attention of producer Raymond Richards (Local Natives), and enlisted the help of mixing engineer Darrell Thorp (Beck, Air), to create a forthcoming debut that is full of heady lyrics, and haunting choruses dressed in dreamy atmospherics.
Love the Ghost
A breakup can be a good thing.
Following a long involvement in the punk scene, and a radio hit “Euro Trash” with his band Dead Country, Nick Long found himself on his own, brimming with creativity and a will to reinvent. Soon after, the prolific musician found his sound and amassed an entirely new volume of work: intimate, sexy, tear-stained. The project would come to be known as Love The Ghost.
Hollywood is where Love The Ghost played his first impromptu performance for a tightly packed crowd. Beer, banter, and even burgers circulated within the small space until he began to strum the first chords of “The Heartbeat The Soul”, silencing the room and drawing everyone near. The infectious, on-the-cusp melodies, both equally raucous and reflective, captivated that first audience.
His eclectic influences are permeable through the music. From the “1992 L.A. riots to that feeling you get on the last day of school before summer,” each of his songs are painted not only with longing, but with a palpable sense of excitement. Nick Long’s immediate future is certainly worthy of excitement as Love The Ghost’s debut EP, produced by multi-platinum producer John Feldmann is due out later this year on Five Seven Records
Dark, melodic, and intriguing…it is time to fall in Love with The Ghost.
