Nicole Alexandra

Nicole, a 2012 graduate from the prestigious Berklee College of Music, exuded a great passion for music early in life. At age four, she began playing on a toy keyboard and her fascination instantly turned into a deep love for music. She studied classical piano from age six through high school. She displayed effortless talent with a variety of instruments and other artistic outlets, including the violin, guitar, and dance.

Practicing diligently, Nicole’s efforts were rewarded when she won the Charlottesville, VA CMTA-YOCA piano concerto competition performing Mozart’s Concerto No. 21 in C Major. The youngest to ever win this competition to date, at only age 12, she was rewarded by performing the concerto for an audience of more than 1,000 at Old Cabell Hall in the University of Virginia. This experience profoundly touched and motivated Nicole to embrace a commitment to share music with others and pursue a career in music.

As a teenager, Nicole devoted countless hours to writing, recording and performing live shows. Between the ages of fourteen to sixteen, she was in the studio daily, self-producing her original songs. Drawing from a diverse list of genres - soul, pop, rock, hip hop and R&B - Nicole will be releasing her new self-titled EP in September 2015. The majority of Nicole’s inspiration comes from personal experiences. Her songwriting has always been a “huge part of my healing process.” She hopes her lyrics offer solace to those who have also experienced and overcome struggles. Her rich, soulful vocal style radiates a warmth of spirit that mends the broken heart. Nicole crafts an authentic and sincere sound that appeals across stylistic boundaries. On stage, Nicole incorporates multiple instruments including her electric violin and keyboard.

In addition, Nicole teaches private and group piano, violin, voice and songwriting lessons for all ages and levels. In 2014 alone, she performed 200 weddings, functions and club gigs as the lead vocalist of Them Apples band from Sugarbabies Inc. Now she has committed more to writing and recording material for her next album and helping others achieve their dreams.

Ill Doots

In 2009 ILL DOOTS began molding its jam session origins into a small dorm room studio project which has since further evolved into a raging live beast of a band featuring two emcees, two guitarists, a bassist, drummer, percussionist, keyboardist and occasional appearances from a horn section, other emcees, and singers. They mix elements of jazz infused with the roots of hip hop to give life to their eclectic and energized sound. The 8+ piece band's vibe is organic because the band draws from a diverse range of experiences and backgrounds as individuals but maintains a shared musical consciousness. ILL DOOTS strives to collaborate with artists from all disciplines; cross-medium collaboration has been a constant source of inspiration. It's not just ILL DOOTS, it's a whole #ILLMOVEMENT
