Doctor Magnum, formed in 2012, is an instrumental outfit out of Albany, NY. Since the band's formation, Charlie Button (guitar), Jerome Steele (guitar), Boris (bass), and Rob Colpoys (drums) have been developing their own distinct, cohesive brand of improvisational music that takes considerable influence from jazz, hip-hop, and psychedelic rock, among other styles.
In 2013, Doctor Magnum released their free debut, Live at Red Square, via Bandcamp and Soundcloud. Live at Red Square boasts a combination of energetic original compositions and imaginative interpretations of cover songs from a wide-reaching selection of artists (Frank Ocean, Bill Evans, Jimi Hendrix, Madvillain, and more). The album's showcase of Doctor Magnum's intricate arranging, blistering improvisations, and unique sonic palate has landed the band on All About Jazz, Impose Magazine, and Nextbop.com's radio show, The Line-Up on KRTU in San Antonio, TX.
