Brouqade Label Roof Party

No longer a fledgling artist, Anthea is now firmly at the forefront of house and techno talents.

Once a behind-the-counter fixture of London’s Flying Records and Phonica Records, Berlin transplant Anthea has been honing her tastemaker’s ear for 15 years. After building a reputation as the most in-demand female DJ in London, Anthea now disseminates her distinct brand of funk-fuelled music to every corner of the globe as a world-renowned DJ, a producer for Cecille, Phonica, Freak n Chic and Desolat, as vocalist and collaborator alongside many of the scene’s underground heroes, and as the A&R expert behind the sound of Brouqade Records.

Anthea’s rise from the East London club scene to tours of the U.S., Europe and South America stems from her roof-raising sets at local institutions Fabric and T-Bar. After landing coveted podcasts for Ibiza Voice and Get The Curse, Anthea fielded invites from Watergate in Berlin, Harry Klein in Munich, Underground in Ibiza, and Gipsy in Moscow to name a select few. Anthea is a DJ first and foremost, and this shines through her infectious performances for leading clubs and festivals around the world.

Casting an eye over Anthea’s productions, it’s apparent that quality is valued over quantity; her releases and remixes have been carefully selected, and associations with Freak ‘n Chic, Phonica, All Inn, One Records, Desolat and air london speak to her esteem amongst the scene’s leading labels. Anthea’s keen sense for mood, groove, and sleek sound aesthetics saw early efforts on Supplement Facts and Tuningspork, and further releases on Supernature and Bootleg. As a solo artist Anthea continues to develop a style that is very much her own: deep, tribal and bassline-driven.

Anthea’s collaborations with close friend Alex Celler produced some studio chemistry, and two years on, their track “The Playmaker” still holds a place as one of Resident Advisor's Top 40 tracks of all time. Anthea also joined forces with Werner Niedermeier as JC Freaks, for a run of deep and classy EPs for Mojuba and Wandering. Her recent feature and vocal work on Guti’s album Patio de Juegos, as well as her collaboration with label partner-in-crime Dana Ruh on “Track 3” are further testament to her creative collaborations.

As one third of Berlin’s young and uprising Brouqade Records — alongside Dana Ruh and Ann M Cazal — Anthea’s sharp A&R perspective has resulted in a string of fresh and exciting producers being brought to the fore as the artists of tomorrow, with label showcases high in demand.

While currently busy with a program of Brouquade events which promise a number of high-profile guests in the near future, further Anthea releases on Crazyjack, Mobilee, Desolat, Kina and of course Brouqade are all in the pipeline.

With an emphasis on creating, and not imitating, Anthea has laid more than solid foundations for herself in 2013, and beyond that there lies nothing but an inspired future.

In an era where ‘original’ music is few and far between, few artists have been able to capture a truly indigenous sound. Luckily, for this US-born Producer and DJ, a relentless pursuit of instinctive rhythm has allowed her to produce a sound that is undeniably her own. With just a year of production under her belt, Oshana has composed a style that is both unique and complex, a product of expansive atmosphere, embryonic bass, and infectious percussion and rhythm.

Over the past year, Oshana has welcomed the release of two solo EP’s on the highly acclaimed, Romanian label, LOK Records, a remix for Stab9 on the Moscow based label, BodyParts Records, and a powerful VA release on her home label of Brouqade. Not surprisingly, her productions have quickly gained the support of several major artists on the infamous Desolat music label, a:rpia:r, and Cadenza, to name a few. Fueled with a budding release schedule, she’s developed an inspiring LIVE performance, gracing audiences in her home city of New York all the way to London and Berlin. With an impressive release schedule and tour dates to boast, there's no doubt that the future remains bright for this up and coming artist.

Looking ahead, this year promises to be a tremendous one for Oshana. With forthcoming dates scheduled in her home city of New York and Ibiza, an introductory vinyl EP, and a second various artist release, Oshana is rapidly defining herself as an artist “to watch.” Armed with an intrinsic passion for making music, Oshana will continue to strive towards the forefront of innovative dance music. No matter where the path may lead her, you’ll find her living by a simple credo, “Do what you love and love what you do, the rest comes naturally.”

Dahlia Lachs

One of the emerging bright lights of New York's club scene, Dahlia Lachs aka Modesty has begun to earn a reputation far beyond that which her moniker would allow.
Skillfully blending deep grooves with strong rhythms and a multitude of breaks, stutters, and effects, Modesty delivers sets that reflect kindly on her early Latin and disco influences but consistently finds ways to interpret, re-invent or advance these sounds in new directions with often surprising and unexpected results.

Since walking away from a career in fashion to pursue her musical interests, Lachs has continued to prove over and over again, her acumen and skill behind the decks performing regularly at underground events in Los Angeles, New York and Denver and earning coveted opening slots for internationally recognized producers such as Alex Under, Miss Fitz, Mikael Stavostrand, Ryan Crosson and Lee Curtiss, to name but a few. She has also delivered sets at events by internationally respected promotional outfits such as Droid Behaviour, Resolute NY and Detroit Underground, performing at the latter’s annual afterparty during Movement: Detroit’s Electronic Music Festival.

Modesty continues to hone her craft as a DJ performing as often as possible both at home and with an eye toward gigs abroad, and while admittedly “dabbling in some production”, unlike many other DJ/Producers she continues to explore the possibilities involved in what some might call a lost art, that of mixing records, pure and simple.
