Elephant Wrecking Ball

Famine! Asteroids! Disease! None of these are really responsible for any massive demolition such as the extinction of the dinosaurs. No, only the most ancient and destructive of forces is capable of such a leveling, and that force is Elephant Wrecking Ball.

Scientific experiments gone wrong and chemical reactions run amok, the chaos has come to order in this fine trio of bass, drums, and trombone. Since 2009 A.D., Elephant Wrecking Ball has been spreading hard hats of the mind to people and venues across the North Eastern U.S. Founded in Boston, and relocated to Brooklyn a few years later, the trio has gained a cult following in the underground demolition scene. Each member is quite accomplished at their instruments and in composition. Jazz, Dub, and Funk elements make up the EWB toolbelt. The elephant, Scott Flynn on Trombone, sits at the controls of the dub elements. The Drums, Neal Evans, and Bass, Dan Africano, have a solid foundation of rhythm and mass, called the wrecking ball. The sound matches the name of the band, and if all that is too complicated, we just call it "SCIENCE!" So prepare your ears, eyes, and minds, for the chaos and order ballet known as Elephant Wrecking Ball

Forming only six years ago, The Mantras continue to hone their direction and precision show by show. Building a reputation as go-for-broke live act, the quintet has been playing to consistently larger and larger crowds in their home state, including a number of sold-out shows. They have been steadily building a following both regionally and nationally with music that is a high-energy collaborative of funk-rock, middle-eastern, electronica, metal; a fusion that will shake your knees and rattle your toes. This rising profile has resulted in an incredible year so far, seeing The Mantras and their members in numerous festival performances and sharing stages in double-bills and direct support for the likes of Umphrey's McGee, Eoto, Kyle Hollingsworth Band, Papadosio, Zoogma, The Werks, and many more.

Tracking of the Mantras next studio release is currently taking place at Jake Cinninger's (Umphrey's McGee) personal studio, Boondock Studios.

The Mantras are now making HQ multi-track recordings of all their live shows available to the public. In 2011, The Mantras began compiling a large archive of HQ live recordings via their new mobile tracking unit, lovingly named R2. Sound engineer Matt Gordon set out to build this archive so that MantrasLive.net can be made available to the fans in early 2012. When launched, MantrasLive.com will allow fans to purchase every show recorded by the band. Copies of the night's show are now available to fans in attendance, and for now, all recordings are being made available to the fans on the night, for FREE. The Mantras have also released a small series of select shows on archive.org, again for FREE to the fans.

The Mantras, together with Stanlee Ventures of the famous Camp Barefoot Music and Arts Festival, are proud to present MANTRABASH 2012 June 21st-23rd, at the breathtaking High Country Motorcycle Camp in Ferguson, NC. This sure to be amazing festival will feature 3 nights of The Mantras, two huge stages, and no overlapping sets. Other acts on the bill include Robert Walter Trio, Particle, The Werks, Brothers Past, and many, many more!
