Paul Oakenfold has been touted as one of the world's leading DJ/remixers by various outlets including CNN, Rolling Stone, BPM, Remix and more.
In 2007 Paul Oakenfold released his Greatest Hits & Remixes through Perfecto/Ultra Records –a 20-selection strong collection of his seminal dance recordings and remixes. Its track listing ranges from original productions such as his massive singles
"Starry Eyed Surprise" "Ready Steady Go," and "Faster Kill
Pussycat" featuring Brittany Murphy. In addition, there are remixes galore of artists like Justin Timberlake, U2, Madonna, The Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead and Underworld and soundtrack pieces such as David Arnold's James Bond Theme from the motion
picture Die Another Day and Oakenfold's "Dread Rock" from Matrix Reloaded.
2x Grammy nominee, "Best Electronic/Dance Album" A Lively Mind (2007, Maverick Records) and Creamfields (2004, Thrive Records)
His first album for Maverick Bunkka was released in 2002. It included "Starry Eyed Surprise" featuring Shifty Shellshock of Crazy Town, a Top 10 hit in both America and the U.K. Other guests on the album were Perry Farrell, Nelly Furtado, Ice Cube, Tricky and Hunter S. Thompson (his last recording before he passed away).
Paul Oakenfold's 2004 mix album Another World has reached gold status in sales making it one of the biggest selling dance albums of all time. In total his releases have sold almost 2 million in the U.S. alone.
"I have to make something that's never been made before; have to make the best thing that I've ever done in my life – otherwise it gets stagnant or worse," says producer/DJ Wolfgang Gartner. Whether or not his progressively more maximilist take on electro-house is your bag or not, you have to respect his exponentially steep rise through the electro-house ranks. And Lord knows, you've heard it — or about it: flipping Beehthoven's 5th for the 4 am crowd; eight #1 tracks on Beatport; remix/collabs with Britney Spears, Timbaland and Black Eyed Peas; festival-highlight performances at Coachella '10 and Electric Daisy Carnival's '10 and '11.
Where Joey Youngman, the one-time party kid from San Luis Obispo, CA and another-time househead old soul, has been electro-house's dark (work) horse, Weekend in America, his debut full-length for Ultra Music, is Wolfgang Gartner becoming dance music's one-man parallel universe, outpacing electro-house and outdoing himself.
Bad Boy Bill
To call Bad Boy Bill accomplished would be a bit of an understatement. Voted America's Favorite DJ (BPM Magazine). Winner of URB's Massy Poll. Co-founder of Beatport.com, the leader in electronic dance music downloads. That might be enough success for some, but not for this world-renowned DJ. With over two decades of DJing under his belt, Bad Boy Bill is ready to release his first full-length artist album.
"I think people are going to be surprised because its different than what they probably expect from me," says Bill. "And I like that."
Out July 28, Bad Boy Bill The Album (Nettwerk) packs a double punch: the impressive collaborators we anticipate from an industry vet (Duran Duran's John Taylor; Alyssa Palmer; JJ Flores; Steve Smooth; Alex Peace), combined with unexpected self-aware lyrics and unique production that seamlessly weaves Bill's electronic edge into rock, hip hop, and rap.
While most of the tracks on The Album have been closely guarded secrets, Bill has previewed lead single "Falling Anthem" extensively, to rave reviews. Number 9 on the Billboard Dance Chart and steadily climbing, the track features vocals by the talented producer and singer Alyssa Palmer, and has already been remixed by Herve, Harry Choo Choo Romero, and Sylvane.
Now an international house icon, Bad Boy Bill got his start as a teenager, DJing at local parties, entering DJ battles, and throwing his own events. He won the first DJ battle he entered. As a senior in high school, Bill started his own record label (International House Records) and signed tracks from DJ Pierre, Mr. Lee, and others. Between 1995 and 2001, Bill released five volumes of the Bangin' The Box series on his own label, Mix Connection Multimedia. It became one of the best selling series in dance music history. During that time, Bill also founded Moody Recordings, which released the international hit "Get Get Down" by Paul Johnson.
In 2003, Bill shook things up with Behind the Decks, a full length Mix CD + Mix DVD containing visuals from him live show. Bill took it to another level in 2006 with his follow up project, Behind the Decks Live, which captured the live show that has made Bill a favorite in a full length DVD and Mix CD.
This summer, Bill will surprise longtime fans and attract droves of new ones with his first full-length artist album, introduced by the first single, "Falling Anthem." The mid-tempo dance track is propelled by a sparse and steady driving beat, but the real focus is on the gorgeous, plaintive vocals from Alyssa Palmer.
Featured on "Do What U Like" as well, Palmer helps set the tone for an upbeat, positive album. "Do What U Like" has all the makings of an instant club hit: funky and futuristic with slick production, racing rhythm, and robotic, commanding vocals.
With "Fast Life" (written on his cell phone via text at 6am in an airport) Bill takes advantage of a perk of recording your own music: lyrical catharsis. "I definitely think it is a fast life we DJs live," says Bill. "It's kind of never ending. It's always another city and club every week. I have been travelling this way for over 12 years, and when I look back, its like 'Wow, it flew by.' But being able to do what you love is a gift, when you combine them all, that's my life and I love it."
Alex Peace slings staccato lyrics like "nonstop fast life / different city every night / no sleep late night" over jagged and fuzzed electro beats that start and skip at random intervals.
Exercising artistic license, Bill taps into his love for and knowledge of an array of musical genres, from rock n' roll ("Got That Feeling") to rap ("Headlock," "Honey"). He goes back to where it all started with a cover of Herbie Hancock's "Rockit" ("because of the scratching, it really got me into the art of DJing," Bill says), and gives new life to a ballad by speeding up one of Palmer's stunning songs ("If I Tell You").
From start to finish, Bad Boy Bill The Album is everything you would hope for from a genre staple looking to shake things up: adventurous, experimental, fresh, and yet authentic with Bill's signature electronic edge layered into every track. America's Favorite DJ may just be America's New Favorite Artist.
The Crystal Method
The Crystal Method is an American electronic music duo that was created in Los Angeles, California by Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland in the early 1990s. The Crystal Method's music has appeared in numerous TV shows, films, video games, and advertisements. The most prominent is the US television series, Bones (2005–present). Their best-selling album, Vegas, was certified platinum in 2007.
The Crystal Method is made up of two members, Ken B. Jordan and Scott Heisler Kirkland. Both of them were born in Las Vegas, Nevada. Kirkland was born when his mother was only fifteen. He grew up listening to his mother's music—disco—and his father's music—rock. When he had grown a little older, he began listening to heavy metal, as well as bands like Depeche Mode. Ken Jordan also grew up listening to classic rock and '80s electronica.
Josh Gard has had a long history in music, but lately he has been rapidly rising up the ranks for all things bass. Just a few short years ago he donned the name Figure and began making electro house, but has since become a regular name in all realms of electronic and dance. Scoring positions among the charts may have gotten him recognition, but a hefty amount of praise has been raining down on him lately as some of the leading artists in electronic music have valued his live performance skills as some of the best in the business.
With releases alongside industry heavyweights Diplo, Tommy Lee, Flux Pavillion, Excision, BT, Tommy Sunshine, and Borgore, as well as a robust catalog of originals, bootlegs, and remixes, Figure's signature sound has earned him a cult following amongst a growing number of insatiable fans. In 2011, his Monsters of Drumstep series married is love of horror with his immense production skills to become the soundtrack to the Halloween season. His follow up "Destruction Series" added a new ride to the amusement park with twists and turns through an intergalactic electro war armed with robots and missile drop laser synths.
"I just like how artists present a package of something close to an adventure… Like a theme park of sound that is an experiment and experience for everyone," states Gard.
When he's not on tour or recording in his home-town studios in rural Indiana, he's touring worldwide including packed tents at festival like EDC, SnowGlobe, Starscape, The Bounce, Creamfields Australia, and Dour Music Festival. His constant interaction with fans is more akin to maintaining a healthy family than what one usually finds in a social media marketing age. Supporters are supplied with the latest productions for free and guest list are reserved for fans in need.
After only three short years of united production, progressive trance duo Tritonal has gone from unknown newcomers to one of the top names in the international electronic dance music scene. Currently standing at #83 on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs List, Tritonal continues to launch track after track up the Beatport charts and into the sets of some of the most renowned and respected DJs in the world. Their
debut artist album, "Piercing the Quiet" produced six top 20 Beatport singles, including two that held the #1 position on the trance chart for almost three weeks—'Lifted' and the 'Still With Me' Club Mix.
Such a rapid ascent into the forefront of an ever-changing dance music scene might intimidate even the most seasoned musicians, but the duo who "complete each other's musical sentences" have captured the hearts and ears of fans and DJs alike. Chad Cisneros and Dave Reed formed this dynamic musical partnership from opposite ends of the United States after meeting online in a sound production forum. Within a year of collaboration, their first smash hit 'Piercing Quiet' was voted best track by listeners of Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance radio show and the pair was on the fast track to becoming one of the U.S.'s—and the world's—most exciting and innovative acts to watch.
In 2011, Tritonal embarked on a nonstop, worldwide tour, performing at the best dance music events in North America, Russia, Asia, the U.K, and Australia. They managed to stand out on the festival circuit, winning over legions of EDM fans at massive gatherings such as Electric Daisy Carnival, Escape From Wonderland, Ultra Music Festival and Nocturnal. Incredibly, they also managed to find time to launch their own record label, Air Up There Recordings, provide a guest mix for Trance Around the World with Above & Beyond, become the resident DJs on Sirius XM's Electric Area, and syndicate their popular Air Up There radio show throughout five continents.
2012 shows no sign of derailing the Tritonal train of success, as the pair have laid out plans for another global trek that will bring them to cities all over the U.S. India, Australia for the legendary Creamfields tour, and ASOT550 in Den Bosch and Miami.
With a fan base of dedicated Tritonians expanding rapidly around the world and a truly memorable, vivacious stage presence which must be seen to be believed, Tritonal continues to shower music lovers with their uplifting, original material and electrifying remixes of some of the best dance music today.
Flosstradamus spent the last 8 years breaking new sounds around the globe and becoming club kings in the process. But how do they keep doing it? J2K and Autobot's knack for flipping your favorite tracks in unexpected new ways (from their earliest DJ blends to high-energy hybrids like the duo's hit remix of Major Lazer's "Original Don") certainly helps. So does having a catalog of original bangers on Fool's Gold, Green Label Sound and Mad Decent/Jeffree's. Yet the real reason Floss has been able to reinvent party rocking for close to a decade is because these Chicago boys bring an irresistible sense of fun to every single set, whether it's a sweat-soaked nightclub or in front of thousands at Lollapalooza. Armed with a gang of new tunes straight from the studio and a brand new, extra-hype stage show, Flosstradamus is coming back to a town near you… get ready to juke!
Keys N Krates
The Toronto-based trio – comprised of the high-energy Adam Tune on drums, synth-master David Matisse on keys, and internationally award-winning Jr. Flo on turntables – began by locking themselves in a rehearsal room for six months to create and finesse their unique sound and identity.
The result? A blend of trap, hip hop and improvisation that truly shows off the artistry of the live remix. Keys N Krates collage raw samples and twist them with live instrumentation, creating a unique party sound. KNK blends clever sample collaging, epic synths, big bass, and funky drum grooves into a sonically unified collection of songs.
KNK has been featured in such publications as URB, Fader, and Antenna magazine. They have toured with and played alongside artists including Pretty Lights, Lotus, Skrillex, Girl Talk, Kid Cudi, Metric, Timbaland, Zed's Dead and more. In 2011/12, the band broke out on the festival scene, playing Ultra Music Festival, Camp Bisco, Electric Forest, North Coast, Moe's Summer Camp, Re-Generation and Blues Fest. After producing distinctive remixes of songs by artists such as MGMT, Jay Z, Bassnectar, Diplo, Drake, and Florence + The Machine, Keys N Krates were commissioned to create official remixes for Lotus, Lyrics Born, and OK GO.
To really grasp what Tune, Matisse and Jr. Flo bring to the stage, you have to see it up close. Their shows are filled with high-energy sets that are made to be witnessed live. The guys continue to craft and grow their sound and style, exposing audiences worldwide to the Keys N Krates experience.
Topher Jones is a breakout American DJ poised to take the country by storm and put Chicago back on the map as the house capital of the world. Hailing from the Windy City and currently signed to a major deal with Ultra Records, Topher's fall release schedule is slammed with massive originals and remixes on the likes of Ultra, OWSLA, and Garuda.
His latest single, 'Brohammer', was called a 'beas
t of a track' by EDM legend Gareth Emery, hit the top 10 overall on Beatport, and has received support from DJs all across the globe. Featuring a Nari & Milani remix, Brohammer is smashing festival sets and becoming a 2012 college anthem.
Topher's music has been played by DJs across musical genres, from Tiesto to Skrillex, Armin van Buuren to Knife Party, Gareth Emery to 12th Planet, Above and Beyond to Pendulum. His records seamlessly cross musical boundaries as they dip and dive between big room house, dirty baselines, and carefully crafted melodies. A song-writer as well as a producer, Topher has a hand in every aspect of the recording process and takes great pride in creating songs with depth and character.
An Indianapolis native who moved to Chicago after college, Topher has been producing music for over 10 years but continues to attack his craft with the same single-minded passion and determination. When asked about his success, he said, "Hard work trumps everything. Be kind, be courteous, be passionate and be grateful. Hard work with that mentality and a little bit of talent can go a long way." This mindset not only affects his music, but also how Topher interacts with his fans and community as he consistently donates time and money to causes in the greater Chicago area.
So be ready, the future of American house music is here.

Bravo, Eprom, Ana Sia) and key figure in the Friends of Friends collective, Paul Salva knows how to control a room. As label owner, Salva has seen his Frite Nite imprint emerge as one of North America's premier sources of West Coast electronic bass music, exploring all corners of the electronic soundscape and harnessing diversity to produce compositions that transcend genre boundaries.
