Currently residing in New York City, Three has been tirelessly holding the flag for underground electronic music in the US since his rise out of the sunny state of Florida in the early 90's. In that time, he's emerged as one of the brightest DJ talents in the US and continues to be a true inspiration for many of us. Three's tour dates show both diversity in audience and a genre-bending passion for good music; he's held residencies at NYC's Twilo, Cielo (Robots), Love and Blk Market Membership, as well as Florida's legendary Simon's while playing lauded guest spots at San Francisco's Wicked party, Fabric (UK), Panorama Bar (Berlin), Blk Market Membership (NYC) and forward thinking events like Japan's Labyrinth Festival and Australia's Rainbow Serpent.
Three's label Hallucination Limited was started in 2003 by Three as an off-shoot of the seminal US 90's label Hallucination Recordings which was founded by dance music legends Rabbit In The Moon. Hallucination Recordings was responsible for some of the freshest techno (licensing the Hazed - Bells EP to Richie Hawtin's Plus 8 label in '94), proper electro (miami bass legends Dynamix 2 and Jackal & Hyde) and benchmark releases like Second Hand Satellites - Multiple Mirrors EP (produced by Three and Sean Q6). Armed with a sound that borrows equally from vintage acid-house, techno and underground electronica Hallucination Limited is held in the highest regard getting attention from a wider audience than most most reach. One of the ethos of Hallucination has always been to release music that years later that is still relevant and feels timeless. A perfect example of this is Cassy's Circo Loco mix CD for the July 2011 issue of Mixmag... which contains no less than five tracks from the label catalog! Three's eclectic taste as a DJ and producer shine through just as brightly in his choices for the label.
Following the path of his appeal as a DJ, his rare forays into producing have become staples for DJs of all styles. Three's remix of Mish Mash feat. Lois - 'Speechless' (Lost in Translation mix) for heavyweight UK label Crosstown Rebels received praise across the board including "pick of the month" in the 15 year anniversary issue of DJ Magazine while other productions such as the underground staple that is Second-Hand Satellites and remixes as Three A.M. (with David Christophere of Rabbit In The Moon) like U.N.K.L.E. feat. Ian Brown - 'Reign' continue to be played on dance floors around the world from DJs as diverse as Harvey, Ricardo Villalobos and Lee Burridge.
Coming from the school of American DJs like Josh Wink and Doc Martin, Three has a wide ranging musical palate akin to Andrew Weatherall or Laurent Garnier, and was recently featured as part of DJ Times Magazine's DJX20 Anniversary profile series as one of twenty DJs who embody the spirit of the American underground along such contemporaries as Josh Wink and Claude Von Stroke.
Aside from his natural ability on the decks, Three sets himself apart from the rest of the pack by presenting eclectic sounds with an open-minded attitude towards everything he does. From DJ sets to musical output, Three is a "DJ's DJ" who has always leaned toward the cutting edge without losing touch with the roots of house and techno.
The Atish experience: deep, emotive, ecstatic. It is more than the beautiful sounds emanating from the speakers, though, it is also the man behind the decks: warm, compassionate, inviting. In an age of oversized DJ egos there is still an artist who is devoted to connecting with his audience, a humble soul with a pure passion for music. This is Atish.
Atish occupies a rare space in dance music. At a time when most DJs rise to prominence primarily through their work as producers, Atish’s success has been realized through his total devotion to the art of DJing. What began at a small gig back in 2010 in San Francisco has since flowered into a magical journey around the world at clubs, festivals, and afterhours on six of the seven continents.
His success comes as no surprise to anyone who has seen Atish DJ live or listened to one of his mixes. With a combination of sophistication and accessibility, his sets are expressive journeys in melodic deep house that create lasting emotional experiences for the listener. Atish is also a natural performer, engaging the crowd with a mixture of charisma and charm. He’s been known to don costumes and wigs when he spins, a playfulness that balances the strict discipline and obsessiveness he has for DJing.
Atish’s natural talent and passion for music haven’t gone unnoticed. Lee Burridge asked Atish to play on the legendary Robot Heart bus sound system at Burning Man in 2011, and Atish has been invited back every year since. He’s also been honored to open for or tag with some of the most respected names in dance music including John Digweed, Danny Howells, Guy Gerber, M.A.N.D.Y., and Tyrant. Currently, Atish is on Listed Bookings’ roster, and he is a resident at Listed’s monthly party, Play, at San Francisco’s world-renowned club, The Endup. He‘s also a resident of the Desert Hearts family, a West Coast collaborative who put on the highly respected semi-annual Desert Hearts festival.
Atish has also developed a strong online presence through Soundcloud. A prolific mixer, Atish produces a monthly podcast series that has allowed him to express a deeper, moodier sound. Scrolling through his extensive catalog of mixes, one can hear an artist passionate about music and dedicated to the perfection of his craft. Having achieved so much in such a short amount of time, the dance music community is excited to see how far he can go.
It’s hard to believe that once upon a time, Mike was growing up dance music deprived in
suburban America. Fortunately, that all changed when friends dragged him to his first true
underground experience in Chicago. It wasn’t long before he bought turntables - and started
spending more money on his records than his rent.
Ten years later, Mike’s genre-bending sets run the spectrum of house and techno, from deep to
driving. Think constant groove, moody basslines, subtle melodies and plenty of dance floor funk
to keep late night revelers on their toes.
As an artist with listed, Mike’s played across the US including NYC, San Francisco, LA, Miami
and Chicago. When living in Chicago, Mike helped launch listed’s local presence and the Varsity
Allstars dayraving extravaganza – giving the city some of its most unforgettable parties. Recent
international appearances have included Europe, Australia, Latin America and even Tahiti plus
annual gigs at the BPM Festival, Detroit/DEMF and Miami/WMC. Mike’s biggest inspiration and
influence has no doubt been his annual pilgrimage to Burning Man, where he has played prime
time sets on the Robot Heart for the last 5 years.
Mike spent two years in London, holding a residency with the Lost Souls crew. He became a
regular favorite at Public Life, the city’s infamous underground toilet-turned-club, where his
weekly sets twisted the heads on London’s most notorious dancefloor.
Currently living in New York, Mike has played for the top parties/clubs in the city including Output,
Blk Market, Robot Heart, Resolute, Verboten, The Panther Room and Cielo. As the NYC resident
DJ for Lee Burridge’s acclaimed All Day I Dream party series, Mike has shared his unique take on
beautiful, gorgeous and melancholic shades of house music on the scorching rooftops of
Brooklyn and beyond. Mike is also a regular at Cityfox and Output, playing some of the most
talked about events of the year in NYC. Look for Mike to begin releasing production work in 2014.
