The Vaccines is an English indie rock band who formed in West London in 2010, consisting of Justin Young (guitar/vocals; formerly Stiff Records solo artist "Jay Jay Pistolet"), Árni Arnason (bass), Freddie Cowan (guitar and younger brother of Tom Cowan from The Horrors) and Pete Robertson (drums).
The band's debut album What Did You Expect from the Vaccines? was released through Columbia Records on 14 March 2011 and reached #4 in the UK Album Chart, making it the best-selling debut album of 2011. The band was compared to the Ramones, The Strokes, Interpol and The Jesus And Mary Chain. The band has explained that its influences range from "'50s rock 'n' roll to '80s American hardcore and good pop music". The band has opened for The Walkmen, The Stone Roses, Arctic Monkeys, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Arcade Fire. Their second studio album Come of Age was released in the United Kingdom (UK) on 3 September 2012 and reached #1 on the UK Album Chart.

Bear's Den are London trio Andrew Davie, Joey Haynes, and Kevin Jones. The music they make is wholesome, warm, and engaging, and takes its influence from the likes of Being There era Wilco, Ryan Adams, and a wealth of both folk and alt-country reference points.

The ethos of DIY is at the heart of everything Bear's Den have done since their inception. Charging around the UK in a van playing to any venue that would have them, picking up support tours with the likes of Of Men And Monsters, Smoke Fairies, and Matt Corby, and concluding 2012 with a support slot for Mumford & Sons at London's O2 Arena, Bear's Den took time out and relocated to a cottage in Wales to record their debut EP, sold only at shows last year, and went on to record this Agape EP in Norfolk with Kristoffer Harris.

'Agape' sets out its stall from the opening chords, and is a spellbinding example of Bear's Den's sound. Andrew Davie's lyrics and voice are beautifully fragile, resonating with the clarity of a songwriter almost twice his age. Framed around the ambiguous Greek word for love, Agape is a warm, all-embracing tune that sets a tone throughout the whole 5-track record.

With forthcoming support from XFM and their 'Great X-Pectations' fortnight of the best new artists (Bear's Den feature throughout 26th Jan), and a headline tour on the verge of selling out, Bear's Den are another fine acquisition for the ever reliable Communion label, and a new band with something that already soars above mere potential.
