Jake Lewis is from Lancaster City, PA. He plays folk music. "It’s like Ryan Adams and Jeff Tweedy moved to this area, got married, had a child, raised him on old Simon and Garfunkel records, forced him to be best friends with Faroese singer-songwriter Teitur and told him to get out of their house." -Frederick News-Post. Find Jake Lewis on Spotify, iTunes, Bandcamp, and more.
An American band formed in Pennsylvania in the early aughts and now based on the East Coast of these United States.
Roof Beams were formed in the mid-2000s. They have released two full-length records, two EPs, and a split 7-inch. Their new full-length record, POISON ARROWS, will be released in August, 2012.
"Unsurprisingly given their J.D. Salinger-inspired name, Raise Up Roof Beams has a literary bent, matching ramshackle country-rock-folk-whatever tunes to earnest words that range from wistful to sardonic." - Washington City Paper
I am a part of a very large family.
My mother was born the youngest of four to the family of a pastor in a seaside town on the southwestern coast of England. My father was the second youngest of seven, born to descendants of Hutterite pilgrims who ended up making a life in the plains of South Dakota.
These unlikely streams met and came together in the nineteen-seventies, when my parents were married. Soon after that I was born, and a few years later we were a family of five.
I began to write songs early on. Amidst a few other interests, my desires always seem to guide me back towards music.
In 2009, I moved from Gainesville, Florida to Washington, DC. I came to a new home, a new life and a new family as I met my wife Lauren, who now records and performs with me.
We are releasing Family History, my debut album, on April 6, 2013. It is the story of the extending and growing circles of family, hazy snapshots of the lives of brothers, sisters, wives and husbands, mothers and fathers. It is my story, and I hope that it can somehow be yours as well.
