Fear Nuttin Band
Fear Nuttin Band
Some bands have coined themselves as revolutionary, but Fear Nuttin Band is evolutionary. With their musical roots fusing the intensity of metal, the rhythm of Jamaican dance hall and the social consciousness of hip hop, this band is defining a genre.

The Fear Nuttin Band sound is as diverse as the cultures the band members represent. The hot West Indian sun incubated the talents of frontmen Roosta (vocals), Prowla (vocals) and Jay Chung (guitar), while instrumentalists Matt Penza (drums), Chris Regan (guitar), Brian Daigle (bass) represent New England’s finest. The union of these six individuals was in the stars: with Chris, Jay, Penza and Brian lending their musical talents to heavy bands all over the Pioneer Valley, the four always found themselves in and out of bands together. It was the same day that Matt, Chris and Brian found themselves without a frontman that Roosta and Prowla called up and asked them to jam. These final Fear Nuttin Band members have been together since.

Much can be said about their home of Springfield, Massachusetts, and its reputation for breeding original artists and ideas. Put on the map for growing groundbreaking entertainers from the powerful reggae dynasty that is the Morgan Heritage, to the mixed melodies of one of the country’s biggest new rock acts Staind, the metal onslaught of Shadows Fall, and All That Remains, Springfield has become a musical hotbed. Fear Nuttin Band took the area by storm with their infamous live shows, and became hometown heroes when they were awarded wins in the Valley Advocate Grand Band Slam four years in a row, taking home the honors for best new band, best new reggae/ska band, and best party band.

Most recently, Fear Nuttin Band triumphantly competed in the nationwide Bodog Music Battle of the Bands, making them Boston’s champions and landing them a recording contract with Bodog Music. Fans watched as Fear Nuttin Band trekked the nation on the Bodog Battle reality TV series, winning the hearts and respect of their competitors and fans, and becoming a favorite among esteemed judges Johnny Rotten, Bif Naked and Billy Duffy. Fear Nuttin Band victoriously returned for the explosive Bodog Battle finale as the Alternative Press Magazine’s popular vote-back winner. Kevin Lyman, founder of the Warped Tour, told the band once, “All you need is one man to believe in this band and the rest is history.” Bodog Music’s founder Calvin Ayre is that man. Calvin was so excited about the public’s response to Fear Nuttin Band that even though they had been previously voted out of the competition, he made them a part of the Bodog Music roster alongside the Bodog Battle winners.

With their musical credo “Unify the Music, Unify the People,” the band has embarked on a musical mission. They have developed a worldwide following due in part to their unique sound, but also because of their diehard work ethic. Live, Fear Nuttin Band are an unforgettable force that draws audiences into the stage swagger of two of today’s most charismatic frontmen, Roosta and Prowla. Because of the band’s unique charisma and energy, they’ve played over 500 sold-out shows and toured the nation with the likes of Toots and the Maytals, Blink 182, Buju Banton, Green Day, Morgan Heritage, Fishbone, and graced several stages on the Vans Warped Tour. All this, plus the band has released several independent EPs, and developed their own merchandise line.

In 2007 Fear Nuttin Band linked up with famed producer Terry Date (The Deftones, Pantera, White Zombie, Korn) to take the reins on their Bodog Music debut record titled Yardcore. The album captures their infectious, energetic live performance while highlighting the vocalists’ phonetic banter and melodic verses. A mix of reggae, dance hall, and hard, heavy rock, the album is a progressive body of work. Peppered with political statements, the singers bare their souls through every track and speak of their personal values and beliefs. Yardcore is a crossbreed, a non-conformist body of work put together purely to give the listener something to think about. What it’s not is “Rockstaffari” bullshit — it’s an angsty, ballsy blend of hardcore instrumentals and vocals that scat and swoon with Jamaican nobility. Chris Regan and Jay Chung provide the wailing guitars and pocket riddem harmonies while Brian Daigle’s bass acts as the pulse of the rhythm section and Matt Penza’s drumming pyrotechnics pop and burst throughout the disc.

Fear Nuttin Band’s Yardcore is a real offering of love driven with intensity, and it might be the first album in history to cause a mosh pit that ends in hugs and high fives. Yardcore is set to be released in March 2008 on the Bodog Music label with simultaneous releases in America, Canada, Europe and the U.K.
Mighty Mystic
Mighty Mystic
Since the reign of the late great Bob Marley, Reggae music has crossed the seven seas and touched the four corners of the world. It has inspired millions while giving birth to a new and exciting way of modern musical life. It is this refreshing sound that Reggae sensation Mighty Mystic has captured in a most remarkable way. Mighty Mystic was born Kevin Holness to Morris and Sonia Holness in St Elizabeth, Jamaica. Mystic′s passion for Reggae music was present from the early days of his childhood. Mystic′s mother often tells the story of how he would sing "What The Hell The Police Can Do" (a popular Jamaican song at the time) as the local policemen would pass by. He and his family relocated to Boston, MA and began a new life in a seemingly new world.

Though thousands of miles separated Mystic from his homeland it couldn′t separate him from his beloved Reggae music. Mystic used the distance as fuel for the fire that was burning down deep inside his soul. He became heavily involved in the Hip Hop Movement that was sweeping the Nation in the 90′s and soon found a fit for his passion. By the age of 13 Mystic and his brother Stephen quickly made names for them self on the local urban scene and began visioning something greater. The next several years Mystic focused on developing his craft, he spent countless hours in the studio, performed on every local show and emerged as an artist on a mission. Mystic set his sights on the National level and began planting his roots other markets.

By 2001 Mighty Mystic had a National underground buzz. However, in 2003 he landed on the worldwide Reggae radar with "Been So Long" a single featuring Dancehall duo Tanto Metro & Devonte. This early success allowed Mystic to tour the U.S while still recording and developing his craft. Several highly acclaimed releases brought even more attention to the movements of Mighty Mystic. This included interest from Willie Daniels then A&R of VP Records, who featured Mystic on several "Riddim Driven" compilation albums. These albums allowed DJ's all over the world to have a variety of Mystic′s music to play on radio and in the clubs. Mystic′s achievements that year were crystallized when Jamaica popular news magazine, The X-News dubbed him "The simmering volcano who is about to explode."

In 2004 Mighty Mystic returned to Jamaica for a series of performances, interviews, and a video for his then single titled "Black People Anthem". Upon returning to the states, Mystic was more inspired and driven than ever. He set a bar of musical standards for himself vowing never fall below, and striving to re-raise at every given opportunity. In 2005 the then 23 year old Mystic teamed up with producer Mike Cip and began working on the early stages of Mighty Mystic's Album. They were only three songs into the project when Mystic and his producer found themselves with a potential hit song titled "Riding On The Clouds".

"Riding On The Clouds" proved to be as triumphant on the charts as it was in the studio, and sat on top of Reggae and Urban radio, charts for the majority of 2006. A successful tour followed culminating with Mystic performing on Boston's Summer Jam 06.

For his efforts Mystic won several Awards/Titles including "Artist of the Year" and "Rising Star". A series of magnificent songs would follow including "Better Times" ft his brother Stephen Thunder, "Revolution", "Fire town" and the 2008 mainstream, club anthem "Here I Am" which featured Reggae POP Icon Shaggy. Mighty Mystic could also be seen on TV as MTV JAMZ played his "Here I Am" video globally. Mystic has managed to do something that few Reggae artists living in the U.S have ever done; he has been able to have and maintain an ever growing and thriving career despite not living in Jamaica. Mighty Mystic can be described as a charismatic man on a mission; he′s gone from being a fan of Reggae to a contributor of the art. His diversity has allowed him to cultivate a wide and loyal following. Fans from all over can all testify that Mighty Mystic always rocks the house, whether he's performing with band or backed by a DJ. Mystic′s sound is something new yet has a vibe of something old and possesses the makings of something timeless and legendary. No matter the mood, you are sure to find something greatly appealing with Mighty Mystic′s music. This is evident in his more recent recordings "Hero", "Free", and "Slipped Away".

Mighty Mystic is preparing for a summer 2010 release of his highly anticipated debut album "WAKE UP THE WORLD" on iTunes. Mystic says; "My album can be summed up with one word, UNIVERSAL. Music is life and life is very broad, so I wanted to design something that can suit all people that was my mission". The first single off of the Album titled "Get Pon Di Floor" ft Elephant Man has already been released and is generating a buzz worldwide. Mighty Mystic is poised and ready for what lies ahead.

Doctor Doom Orchestra
It seems as though the city of Boston has produced a new champion for America to keep its’ watchful eyes (and ears) upon. They might be the sound you and your friends have been waiting for. Their music is fresh, ranging, and fundamentally tight enough to dominate a new playing surface for many Bostonians’.

Their original flavor lightens up the Boston music scene with raw, genuine, and ‘to the point’ rhymes that your cousin up North can’t wait to hear. The band is the proud founder of an entirely new musical genre that most of us have been waiting for, with smooth backup vocal enforcement. Those not familiar with the band formerly known as Foggy Depot, and Doctors of Flight. Must imagine a sound similar to what “power soul” could sound like paired with snug rap lyrics executed over pumping percussion and elite riffs, so leave the air guitar at home. They are even known to jump into a jam along the way. They are Doctor Doom Orchestra and they’re that good.

Their onslaught of music is far from bombardment so prepare to hear a fun musical experience. This group of artists excites the listener from all nautical points to form a complete and ecstatic sound. When you make plans to see them, be sure to pack your prescription for musical takeoff because this group provides nothing short of elevation.
