Talk Tonight, Eric Friedmann and The Lucky Rubes

Talk Tonight

We’re Talk Tonight, a rock band based in San Francisco. Our sound has been described as fun, intelligent pop tangled with melodic soul. What’s that you ask? We define it as rockin’ music that gets you through the fog.

Who are we? We’re four guys, two girls bonded together by our separate and collective loves of McDonald’s and martinis, gentlemen’s clubs, Jameson, Blow Pops and, of course, making music.

Intrigued? Good.

Over the last year, we’ve been lucky enough to play to packed audiences across California, including some of the Bay Area’s best-loved and iconic venues such as Brick & Mortar, Café du Nord, Hotel Utah, and the Independent. In January 2013, the band’s first EP, "Single Day," was recognized as one of the best EPs of 2012 by David Bash, founder of International Pop Overthrow. Recently, we were spotted at a local gig and subsequently sponsored to record a new original single. “Unresolved,” produced by acclaimed producer, Starita (Rihanna, Sting).

Eric Friedmann and The Lucky Rubes

Since the summer of 2001 Eric Friedmann and The Lucky Rubes have brought their smoky take on vocal-based Telecaster rock to venues up and down California and in the UK as well. A multi-instrumentalist and accomplished producer, Eric has been a fixture in the Bay Area music community since the mid-eighties, and has played in countless bands on various instruments up and down the West Coast, the Midwest, and in Europe. In 1992 he founded Solana Records, and has recorded and released albums by some of the Bay Area's most exciting talent. He is also the proprietor of The Sandbox, a small recording studio in the Sunset District of San Francisco where the really big stars come to record when they're sick of Hyde Street. 2013 sees The Lucky Rubes back after a break with an exciting all-new lineup:

The Connies

The Connies are band from the North San Francisco Bay Area Playing Rock and Roll with Punk influences amongst a slew of
polyamorous hippies and tone deaf metal-heads. Up from the
dregs spawned the Brothers Connie!

The Bottle Kids

The Bottle Kids are the most recent project by singer/songwriter Eric Blakely. The Berkeley, California native returns to debut his new band and launch the Bottle Kids new album, "Such A Thrill". Most recently heard on Paul Collin's "King s Of Power Pop" album, Blakely breaks out on his own and brings his Power Pop revival to the Hotel Utah August, 10th for the International Pop Overthrow festival.

The Whitehalls

The Whitehalls started as “Heathrow” and built a loyal San Francisco fanbase behind their 2005 album "Say It Like You Mean It". Now as The Whitehalls everything the fans have been looking forward to (and much, much more) can be found in the new album, 2013's "Into the Wild". Under the guiding hand of producer B (best known for being the creative and technical genius behind SF-based electronica outfit Karmacoda), the band have used their previous album's Brit-rock sound as a jumping off point for much greater musical ambition that sees the widespread use of keyboard, organ and all manner of electronic wizardry. The result is a carefully-crafted modern-rock record, chock-full of the catchy melodies the band is known for but now featuring all four members contributing vocally, sitting on top of multiple lush layers of crunchy guitars and a tight, exciting rhythm section.

In the end though, The Whitehalls are simply The Whitehalls: four musicians with important things to say, three different countries of origin, two occasionally squabbling brothers and one exceptional new release.

David Brookings and the Average Lookings

David Brookings and the Average Lookings are based in San Jose, Ca. and formed in early 2014. The band play songs off of Davids’ 6 solo albums, the most recent being ‘The Maze’, which was released in the fall of 2013. The songs have a 60s/70s power-pop feel to them. “I’m trying to write catchy songs that get stuck in your head that people are humming when they leave a show”, says Brookings. The band have booked shows all over the Bay Area throughout the end of 2014, and they plan to start on a new album in early 2015
