HAILED AS THE NEW JANIS JOPLIN, even before she played the legendary rock icon in the off-Broadway hit Love, Janis, Dana Fuchs is a raspy-voiced blues-rock singer/songwriter whose versatile career has embraced music, theater, and film ("Across the Universe"). Fuchs and her band do freight-train blues-rock but it's her voice that steals the show.
Powerful, passionate and honest, Dana Fuchs is a throwback to another time: the late '60s and early '70s, when blues-based shouters like Robert Plant were capturing the attention of a generation.
Perhaps Stereophile Magazine said it best: "Imagine a sultry, more emotive Janis Joplin, backed by a higher energy version of the late 60s Rolling Stones… Rock n' Roll doesn't get any better."
"Blond-haired, blues-rockin' singers don't come any more firey and iconic than Dana Fuchs, preaching the gospel of soul and inspiration." - Philadelphia Daily
Nicky Egan, originally from Philadelphia, spreads her love for music through a sound that blends elements of soul r&b and rock. Phillyburbs.com describes Egan as a "soul songstress". With her influences ranging from Etta James, Sarah Vaughn and Janis Joplin, to The Beatles, James Brown and Joe Cocker, Egan drives her performances with memorable songs, young energy and a positive message. Since Nicky Egan formed her band in 2007, they've played throughout the east coast, and have traveled West, playing shows from LA to Santa Cruz. They've shared a bill with other soul acts such as Boston's Eli "Paperboy" Reed, and London's Sam Bradley. Currently residing in Philadelphia, Egan recently graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor's Degree in Contemporary Writing and Production. Her band is entertaining crowds between Philadelphia and Boston in venues such as World Cafe Live, the Tin Angel, NYC's S.O.B.'s, Le Poisson Rouge, The Lizard Lounge and House of Blues Boston. Egan just released her debut album, a 12 song LP, produced by Egan and her band-mate Johnny Simon Jr, released January 7th, 2011. The album entitled, Good People, embraces a collection of soul, pop and r&b.
"Gina Sicilia may be the best blues singer on the music scene today"
"Not since Susan Tedeschi has a young female blues singer made such a strong impression...remarkable voice"
