Give A Funk featuring George Porter Jr. & Runnin Pardners + Bonerama horns

This summer marks the 10 year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina that forever changed the lives of so many people from New Orleans and its surrounding areas. For those who have been fortunate to spend time in New Orleans recently, the Katrina impact/recovery can be somewhat misleading in that many of the neighborhoods we visit (French Quarter, Tulane Campus) and events we attend (JazzFest, Super Bowl) are thriving. While we are proud of New Orleans’ indomitable spirit, so many people are still in need of help 10 years later. In fact, only 30% of the lower income neighborhood residents returned to New Orleans (opposed to 90% in the rest of the city).
So what can we do to help? Well, in typical NOLA/Tulane style, we throw a party! But not just any party – we need to act for one night in NYC as though we are all back in New Orleans with George Porter Jr. and the Runnin’ Pardners on stage funkin’ it up with that magical energy in the air (think Tipitinas circa 1am). Most importantly, all proceeds will benefit Katrina relief efforts.
