Genetic Engines is a group spawned from the music of Michael Edwards, a recent transplant into Denver, Colorado.
Edwards spent most of 2010 writing and producing his full length debut album. The result of this yearlong production is Genetic Engines, a collection of songs spanning the boundaries of folk, rock, and electronic music.
In early 2011, Michael started putting together a band of collaborators to perform this music live, and they started playing out locally in Denver in the summer, culminating in a performance at the Denver Post's annual Underground Music Showcase.
"The three members of the Baltic — all 15 and living in the Mile High vicinity — are making loud-as-hell shoegaze and power pop that blows the doors off records being put out by people of twice their age and experience. Though drummer Graham Epstein’s dad was the publicist for IRS Records in its ’80s heyday, the trio (rounded out by guitarist Jose Chalit and frontman/guitarist Adam Dankowski) draws inspiration from fuzzed out UK outfits like Chapterhouse and Ride, with a bit of punk energy thrown in." - Denver Post

"...Champagne Charlie has taken root in the naugahyde covered barstools of Denver’s seediest bars. They are a band that grew both musically and lyrically despite, or maybe due to, dimly lit rooms, and the smell of stale beer combined with sour bar towels. Manifestation artistique, originally a four member band, their numbers have grown to seven or more depending on the night. Like Chicago Cabaret, Champagne Charlie fully embraces a larger band ensemble, believing “the more the better.” Playing a dozen different instruments, the band combines elements of Jazz, Blues, Waltz, and Americana to create their own style of Dark Denver Cabaret music. With several members being multi-instrumentalists, rhythm and melodies intermingle as one instrument is set down and another is picked up. While the band plays a drinking man’s music, Ryan “Peepers” King sings with the gravelly delight of a parched throat encased in a sailor’s bones about love, loss, damnation, and a lack of forgiveness."-ListenUpDenver
The Constant Tourists
In the latest of a string of recent appearances in Denver nightlife venues, area band the Constant Tourists will be on stage at your establishment tonight to entertain their fans and fans-to-be.
The group performs all original tunes featuring acoustic guitar, layered vocal harmonies, accordion, mandolin, cello, trumpet, occasional kazoo, and tap dancing embellishments. Their eclectic style bridges genres ranging from Latin to Irish, Pop to Jazz, taking the audience on a musical tour through a worldly landscape of sound.
The Tourists were born in 2005 on a cool autumn night in Medford, Oregon following a fiery open-mic performance by lead singer and guitar player, Nathan Sanchez. After the show, a ravishing young songwriter, singer, and instrumentalist named Cassie approached him about making music together. Soon they were writing and performing together regularly, and it wasn't long before they were married.
Through their love story, the Tourists were born. Since, the duo has pressed three albums; the debut was dubbed "Postcards." Each of two follow-up records were recorded with different third-man, lead guitarists. Today, the group is five members. Joel contributes lead and rhythm mandolin and vocal harmonies. On cello, Rebecca brings a smooth and virtuosic backbone to the sound. R e s i d e n t c l o g g e r / t a p d a n c e r Adrienne, adds a percussive dance element to the music. Now, the Constant Tourists frequent venues in Denver such as Paris on the Platte, The Mercury Café, Summit Music Hall, and D'Note in Olde Town Arvada

Idlewhile delivers a unique mix of Original Americana ~ weaving elements of folk, country, pop and dark matter to create a tapestry of vivid palette and emotional songs that are danceable and catchy, yet possess a complex and contemplative lyricism and arrangement that assure even the most discriminating of songwriter aficionados' appreciation.
This sour-dark mixture brims with the soul-prints of
life, love, and loss; idlewhile features original material, drawing from a broad range of musical influence spanning modern indie heros as well as classic archetypes such as Porter Wagoner and Loretta Lynn, and occasionally even straying into the dark corners occupied by artists like Bauhaus and The Pixies.
Well-known for performing in an eclectic electro-acoustic configuration, Idlewhile can also perform ably acoustic in-the-round for a real rootsy experience, and often performs in smaller groups ranging from duet to quintet. It's ALL good.
