"...Champagne Charlie has taken root in the naugahyde covered barstools of Denver's seediest bars. They are a band that grew both musically and lyrically despite, or maybe due to, dimly lit rooms, and the smell of stale beer combined with sour bar towels. Manifestation artistique, originally a four member band, their numbers have grown to seven or more depending on the night. Like Chicago Cabaret, Champagne Charlie fully embraces a larger band ensemble, believing "the more the better." Playing a dozen different instruments, the band combines elements of Jazz, Blues, Waltz, and Americana to create their own style of Dark Denver Cabaret music. With several members being multi-instrumentalists, rhythm and melodies intermingle as one instrument is set down and another is picked up. While the band plays a drinking man's music, Ryan "Peepers" King sings with the gravelly delight of a parched throat encased in a sailor's bones about love, loss, damnation, and a lack of forgiveness."-ListenUpDenver
Gora Gora Orkestar
Gora Gora Orkestar brings the sounds of the Balkans to the Rockies with our high energy performances and
inspired compositions. Formed in the fall of 2009, this 10 piece brass band is dedicated to making the audience dance
with its infectious rhythm and melody. Our sound is an eclectic mix, blending old world melodies of Eastern European
folk, with the back beat of American funk and the sultry sway of South American tango into a genre that we have
coined as “Brass‐hop”.
This happy caravan of musicians is comprised of seasoned veterans in the performance, education and
composition of music. GGO has also had many special guests within the last year that included area performers such
as violinists, saxophonists, singers and belly dancers. On July 1st, of 2011 Gora Gora Orkestar kicked off its first cabaret
show aptly named, “The Roma Cabaret” to great success of over 100 in attendance. The evening included Colorado’s
most exciting performers of the circus arts, dance and burlesque.
