June w/ DJ Ktone
While other kids were trying to master red light, green light, 1-2-3, KTONE could be found mixing his Sesame Street records on an old turntable. Definitely not Star Search but it was his start of an art form that would make him into the man and the DJ he is today. By 7th grade he found himself rapping in a group that won first place in a school talent show, proving that everything that KTONE puts his mind to can be a true success. He then started borrowing his mother’s tapes and albums combining them with his CD collection making personal mix tapes. His taste in music agreed with his friends’ and they began to steal his mix tapes. This eventually led him to steal his own tapes back!
KTONE is a man who believes in keeping family first and why wouldn’t he when his inspiration is drawn from them? His mother encouraged his love for music and most importantly supported his goals. Currently, his wife and 2 sons serve as his main inspiration. Everything he does right now is for not only for his own benefit, but for his children’s benefit as well. They even draw inspiration from him when they visit the studio and experiment with music, dance, and play on turntables displaying the spark that started it all for him.
Hip Hop isn’t dead, it’s just underground. The long awaited mixtape by Alex Chadwick is a perfect example of what happens when a talented hip hop artist with a passion for music records 18 of the most memorable tracks to ever be released by an independent artist . IJustWannaRap is Chadwick’s first highly publicized recording since his debut as part of the 3rd Brillyance rap group signed under Rawkus Records in 2007 under the “Rawkus 50” campaign.
Alex Chadwick (who goes by his first and middle name) was born in Baton Rouge , Louisiana in 1983 where he grew up on artists like Master P, The Hot Boys, UGK, Eightball & MJG, just to name a few. Although being influenced by this kind of rap, listeners would describe his sound as east coast, underground or backpack. He started rapping at the tender age of 9 when he and his friends rhymed over beats played on drum sets made of buckets. His musical talent is evident in his mastery of his lyrical abilities, the bass guitar and piano.
The group 3rd Brillyance was formed in Germany in 2006 by members Alex Chadwick and Madd Astronoma. The producer/MC duo met through a mutual friend and after low expectations of each others’ music, was blown away on the first listen and instantly knew they needed to work together. This chemistry is part of what made their music so significant. After combining their styles and making music for nearly a year, a competition revealed by Rawkus Records caught 3rd Brillyances’ attention. In February 2007 Rawkus announced the “Rawkus 50” competition where 50 independent rap artists would be chosen to release an album on Rawkus and given the opportunity to take their career from rapping on the corner to being supported by one of Hip Hops most trusted brands. 3rd Brillyance was one of the selected and their debut album “Grass Roots” was released in 2007 and they embarked on an international tour which included stops in Japan and Germany.
Although music is in his heart, Chadwick chose to pursue a career in the U.S Air Force and is currently serving our country in the Middle East. Despite his currently deployment, Alex Chadwick’s solo mixtape project “IJustWannaRap” was released under 3rd Brylliance Music Group on November 4th, 2011. D-Re'll, a name that means Realities. Experience. from Living. Life (or Real Ill). Born Kyle Davis, native to Brooklyn, New York from two West Indian parents whom originated from St. Vincent. During his childhood, his parents made the decision to move to Colorado. It was a decision that would change his life forever.
At a very young age he was influenced by musical genres such as reggae, soca & caylapso and pop. These genres soon transcended to his love for Hip-Hop and R&B. While embracing his new found passion, he wrote his first lyrics at the age of twelve. From then on he knew exactly who he was, and what he wanted to do. For the next two years he would dedicate his time solely to perfecting his craft. On his fourteenth birthday however, he received a keyboard that challenged not only the way he wrote, but the way he delivered his sound. As his sound started to take a tone of its own lyrically and instrumental wise, he began to learn the engineering side of music.
By the age of seventeen he released a c.d in his high school under his former imprint of One of the Best Entertainment. His label catered to artist that embraced the same sounds he fell in love with early on. By nineteen he released a compilation c.d with local artists, and friends using all self produced original music. From that moment forth, he knew that he could be what every label wanted and all fans adored. He has taken his musical knowledge, all self taught, and created a form of music he can't stop talking about. From his 1st keyboard, to recording analog with a 4-track recorder, he has mastered hand on as well as digital.
Now as the owner of imprint of Coldest In It, his respect for the art of music has grown, and now given the ability to mark history in a purely positive way. Leaving you with this he would say would be his message to the world....
"Life's cycles come and go. What part of the cycle you are in, determines the situation you go through.” As well as "Don't be afraid to be yourself. The more you are yourself, the more people are attracted to you."
He has done his homework, and is ready to show that the only test in his way that can hold himself back is his dedication.
