Born in the late 80s, grew up in the 90s, rocked the turn of the century. The St. Louis-based ska-punk outfit the Urge was formed in 1987 by vocalist Steve Ewing and bassist Karl Grable, who together remained the nexus of the group throughout the many roster changes which followed. The original Urge lineup debuted in 1989 with the cassette-only Bust Me Dat Forty, followed a year later by the LP Puttin' the Backbone Back. After the additions of saxophonist Bill Reiter and trombonists Matt Kwiatkowski and Todd Painter, the group released 1992's Magically Delicious; guitarist Jerry Jost and drummer John Pessoni joined a year later, and this lineup recorded the 1993 live LP Fat Babies in the Mix. A tour with 311 helped the Urge win any number of new fans, and 1995's Receiving the Gift of Flavor was so successful that it brought the band to the attention of Epic's Immortal imprint, which reissued the LP in 1996. Master of Styles followed in 1998. Too Much Stereo came in mid-2000.
Unifyah is an 9 piece, Rock/Ska/Reggae/Dub/HipHop and Funk band from St Louis Mo. who are proving to be a power house within the local music scene. With enough raw energy to run a Nuclear Plant, UNIFYAH has exploded on the scene with their tasteful blend of Reggae/Rock/Hip-Hop/Dub & Ska Funk- surely there is something here for everyone! Over the last year, they have been methodically crafting songs and going through the normal growing pains of a band; name changes, member additions and subtractions and more additions.. and finally they have found that perfect blend that they were searching for!! So now it's time to feed the masses, and they've already been fortunate enough to grace the stage with great bands such as Toots and the Maytals, The Urge, The Aggrolites, Murder City Players, Mike Pinto Band, Jon Wayne and the Pain, Tribal Seeds, Seedless, Ballyhoo!, Aaron Kamm and The One Drops, Fishbone, Iration, Tomorrows Bad Seeds, Through the Roots, Synrgy, 77 Jefferson and Badfish-Tribute to Sublime to name a few. Keep your ears peeled for more news about this band, good things are in their future!
Austin Kolb Band
In 2007 Austin Kolb began a small solo project, writing singer/songwriter music, playing in coffee shops and small venues around Columbia, Missouri. After a few years of that, The Austin Kolb Band was born. In 2010, starting with Austin Kolb (Lead Singer/Guitar), Alex "Soft Serve" Upton (Lead Guitar), and Josh JB Burleson (Drums), they began practice jams and immediately the sound clicked. To fill up the band's sound, they added Walter Beeson (Bass), Cameron Hays (Keys), and Brandon Phillips (Percussion).
The Austin Kolb Band has recorded two full studio albums (The Simple Things 2010 and Life's Lemons 2011) at Centro Cellar Studio in Columbia, MO produced by Will Reeves.
The band has played shows all over the midwest including major reggae artists Trevor Hall, Cas Haley, Wallpaper, The Dirty Heads and The Original Wailers.
The band believes that positive music can make an impact on the world. One Love.
