With a steady stream of independent releases in the works for 2013, Carbon Leaf's autonomous VOYAGE has come full circle – recording and producing from their own studio and releasing their music directly to fans – starting with GHOST DRAGON ATTACKS CASTLE in February, a 12-song collection of Celtic-inspired, original tunes.
Irish folk and Gaelic influences have always peppered the band's songs and albums for years – not to mention their energetic live shows – but GHOST DRAGON fully embraces those traditional roots from start to finish, giving the Carbon Leaf fan who loves the band's Celtic-influenced songs ("The Boxer", "Desperation Song", "American Tale", "Toy Soldiers", "Home"…) a new, full-blown album of all-original Celtic folk, rock and instrumental dance tunes to celebrate and sink their teeth into.
Michael McDermott possesses one of those classic rock voices and isn't afraid to use it. Drawing on influences from Bob Dylan to Van Morrison, he's a dysfunctional prophet who spins stories so brilliantly through his songs that they're old friends by the end of the first hearing. American Country Music Magazine commented that he's " the kind of raconteur writer who is so connected with himself that he can reach
right through the speakers and punch you in the heart"
Michael's live performance have also received praise from a dedicated fan-base and famous admirers like author Stephen King, who shared that "Michael McDermott is the greatest undiscovered rock n roll talent of the last 20 years" King also used Michael's lyrics in two books of his acclaimed novels - Insomnia and Rose Madder
