Last American Buffalo
Los Angeles based Rock'n"Roll group Last American Buffalo was originally founded by lead singer Kevin Compton. In 2011 he joined with multi-instrumentalist Josh Grolemund and Bassist Vic Artur. Together with Grammy nominated producer Billy Mohler they released several EP's and singles. In the fall of 2012 they released "Here She Comes" their most Rock'n'Roll inspired effort to date, and their first self produced work.
Around that same time Kevin began collaborating with singer/guitarist Bryce Wayt of the GT350's, who then officially joined the band as an additional songwriter and frontman, a la Joe Walsh. Drawing inspiration from Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker to Tom Petty, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin (and a little AC/DC for good measure), they took to the studio to write and record their first full length Album, scheduled to be released in July 2013.
"Sometimes we forget where we came from, and in an era of manufactured music, Last American Buffalo reminds us that it's the bluesy chords, the groovy beats, and the rebel poetry that are the ingredients to organic rock & roll."
Jamie Harvey - grammy.com
"The least punk band that I like the most"
Eric Melvin - NOFX
Formed in and around some of Southern California's finest open mics, dive bars and dorm rooms, Mojo Stone is a barn-burning, sweat-pouring, old-school five-piece rock n' roll band. Harnessing and re-contextualizing elements of folk-rock, rockabilly and soul in the service of a full-frontal rock assault, the group's incendiary live show has entertained audiences in venues across the country; from Oakland to Texas, Los Angeles to New Mexico. Mojo Stone released their debut E.P., "Hatchet," in 2011, and a second E.P., "Strange Honey," is forthcoming. Stay tuned for new music, an updated tour schedule, and various other shenanigans.
The Sister Ruby Band
The Sister Ruby Band is the psych-rock project of 22 year old Los Angeles based Johnny Ruby. After last year's self-recorded EP "A Shot In The Dark", The Sister Ruby Band is set to release their full-length debut album "In Cold Blood". Featuring appearances from guest musicians such as The Black Market Band and the Sugarplum Fairies, this record oscillates between the gauzy sounds of British shoe gaze and West Coast psychedelia.
According to Buzz Bands LA's Kevin Bronson "Sister Ruby's woozy wall of sound isn't too far from the reverb-soaked shimmer of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and, when the guitars are turned down, that trio's excellent excursion into Americana, "Howl." The singer himself? Ruminative and world-weary, on two continents."
