Ryder Bach started Body Parts in 2009. The band, rounded out by Alina Cutrono, Raymond Proudfoot, and Taylor Dexter, fuses Ryder's thoughtful lyrics -- food, language and comfort serve as subjects -- with an angular sense of melody, some Prince-inspired guitar work, a lot of percussion and several pairs of decidedly square eyeglasses; the result is songs that are just as intellectually demanding as they are imminently danceable. The band is now recording a new music under the banner, FIRE DREAM.
It wasn't long ago that gavin was sitting in her dorm room, making beats and sweet melodies on her computer with little intention of sharing it with the world. That is until her sister put her home-made music online without her knowing, which caught the attention of many music lovers including her present producer and LA beatmaker TOKiMONSTA. Although she has been singing since she can remember, the last thing she wanted was to fit a mold she hated. So she made music for herself on her own terms...and still is.
Dark Furs is a female-fronted independent rock band. Founded in East Los Angeles, a chance connection in 2011 between UK-raised vocalist Suzanne May and LA native Chad Philipps sparked an immediate songwriting partnership. They mix intricate melody lines and commanding vocals with dark and dreamy instrumentals to create their own brand of "Mood Rock." In 2013, the duo headed into the studio to record their self-titled EP with producer Dan Long (Henry Clay People, Local Natives) which BuzzBands.LA described as "a sophisticated reverie" and landed them on multiple Bands to Watch lists. They recently completed the recording of their follow-up EP at Jim Henson Studios with producer Nico Essig, slated for a Spring release. Dark Furs is ready to kick off 2014 with new music, videos, and an international tour.
