We The Kings
For pop-rock quartet We The Kings, it's all about staying connected – with each other, with their hometown roots, and especially with their fans. Named for hometown Bradenton, Florida's King Middle School where they first made music together, the band – Travis Clark (lead vocals, guitar), Hunter Thomsen (guitar, backing vocals), Drew Thomsen (bass) and Danny Duncan (drums) – has grown into one of the most engaging and exciting acts on the pop-rock circuit. Talent, ambition, and hard work have all played a part, but for We The Kings, nurturing the bonds between the band and their fans is what makes it all happen.
Their self-titled debut album hit #1 on Billboard's New Alternative Album sales chart and spawned the Billboard-charting tracks "Secret Valentine" and "Check Yes Juliet," which is nearing Platinum status.
Their music has been licensed for the CW, MTV, Rock Band, and more, and they were nominated for a 2008 mtvU College Radio Woodie Award. Appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live and MTV's TRL and Spring Break 2008 have further boosted the band's visibility. Constantly on the road, in 2009 they headlined their own tours as well as the 2009 Vans Warped Tour.
Since Warped wrapped up, the band has been in the studio recording their sophomore disc, produced by S*A*M & Sluggo (Gym Class Heroes, Cobra Starship, Metro Station) which will be released December 8. The infectious first single, "Heaven Can Wait," is gaining nationwide airplay, climbing the Billboard Singles chart, and has already reached the Top 10 on the Alternative Singles chart.
The title of the new release, Smile Kid (S-Curve), sums up the band's attitude. As Clark explains, "we are all about living life as happy as possible, and when you seem down, just remember to Smile Kid :)" Infectious high spirits and camaraderie energize their on-the-road videos and live performances. The joy they take in being on stage is palpable at every show; having fun and sharing that feeling with the audience is what it's all about. "It's always been based on friendship," says Clark, "which is why I think we get along so well together and why we're able to tour eleven months out of the year without wanting to kill each other."
Breathe Carolina are a 5 piece pop-electronic act from Denver, CO. The band started on west coast indie Fearless records and cut their teeth on years of touring the Van's Warped Tour and becoming seasoned road dogs. The band's sophomore album Hello Fascinationwas released August 18th, 2009, the album debuted at #43 on the Billboard 200. In early 2011, and the band began recording Hell Is What You Make It with producer Ian Kirkpatrick (Neon Trees, Plain White T's). Prior to the July 12th, 2011 release of Hell Is What You Make It, Breathe Carolina made their Late Night TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! while their single "Blackout" started climbing the radio charts, the band hit the road for a headlining tour of the US that kept them out for the entire summer. In September 2011, Jon Caramanica at the New York Times included the album in his "Playlist" column writing, "…it's one of the year's best pure pop albums" and this past December Brian Mansfield at USA Today featured them in an "On The Verge" piece. On the eve of their single Blackout being certified platinum, the band has wrapped a brand new record for release fall of 2013. The future is bright for Breathe Carolina as they announce a year of tour dates and their brand new record entitled "Savages."
23-year-old Travis Tatum Mills has been able to turn a laptop musical experimentation in his bedroom into national tours and a deal with Columbia Records, all in just over two years. But the rapid ascent didn't come without plenty of work.
In March 2012, Travis received a 2012 MTV Woodie Award nomination for Best New Artist. Over the past few years he has amassed a dedicated and loyal fan base with over 15+ million cumulative Youtube views, 530,000 Facebook fans and 200,000 twitter followers. His viral hit single "Vans On" went to top 27 at Rhythm radio this past summer and saw Mills playing to thousands of fans daily on the 2012 Vans Warped Tour.
His latest project, the Thrillionaire mixtape was released on Datpiff.com in Summer 12' and received over 100,000 downloads. Mills is currently in the studio working on his major label debut album to be released later this year. The lead single "Loud" produced by Pop of Pop and Oak is available on iTunes from March 4.
