Kinetics and One Love
Grammy nominated songwriters Kinetics & One Love, a hip-hop duo from NYC, are revitalizing underground hip-hop and reinventing standards for pop music. Signed as songwriters with Warner Music Group, the duo has written for Eminem, B.o.B, Nicki Minaj & Sean Kingston, making their commercial debut in 2010 by penning the chorus to B.o.B's multiplatinum selling "Airplanes." As artists, they have collaborated with hip-hop legends such as R.A. the Rugged Man and Remedy from Wu-Tang Killa Bees, the internationally known rapper Termanology, Chris Webby, Atlantic Records' Wynter Gordon and the Unknown Prophets. The duo has also performed around the world, opening for acts such as Talib Kweli, Mac Lethal and Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels of Run–D.M.C.
Ever since they met in college, rapper Kinetics has been offering a distinctive complement to One Love's instrumentals: while One Love's extensive training in music theory and classical composition is evident in the production, Kinetics's lyrics breathe socially conscious and provocative themes. The duo is currently in the midst of a nationwide tour while simultaneously songwriting for several major label artists.
Kinetics & One Love's 2012 album entitled "You Are Not Alone," with guest appearances from Termanology, Wynter Gordon and Nitty Scott, is available here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/you-are-not-alone/id553367008.
In a genre where many artists sacrifice substance for commercial appeal, Myke Charles strikes a delicate balance. This unique emcee/singer has the ability to provoke thought and still heat the club with his progressive yet classically influenced musical style. In his debut mix-tape, Lift Off, Myke showcases effortless charm and delivery through powerful lyrics. With energetic performances unrivaled in hip-hop, MC has shared the stage with the likes of Lupe Fiasco, Flo Rida, Kid iNK, Chiddy Bang, and many more. Having gained national notoriety as the front man of ‘Rapapella’ sensation Urban Method on NBC’s The Sing Off, the Denver native has drawn comparisons to Drake, Eminem and J. Cole.
Born and raised in Colorado Rolphy was bred in the anguish of confusion. He brings an introspective feel to his art, and attempts to shed light on unanswerable darkness. Constantly shaping his craft he is always working towards improvement. His goal is simply to pay the bills, and spread his music to as many people as possible. Supported by family and close friends Rolphy has an undetermined future, but will continue to create in hopes of connection and expanding knowledge.
Turner Jackson, a Colorado born, New York City bred MC is ready to lead. Nat Turner, a slave that led a rebellion rooted in the exploitative conditions of the southern slave system, is the inspiration behind Jackson's moniker.
Coming from a proclaimed "new school mentality," Jackson's aim is simple self expression. Hailing from several cities in the east coast, Turner's main influences are Wale, Styles P, Kanye West, and others that have ushered in a new era of lyricism.
A strong connection to speech and debate gave way to a deeper yearning to convey a message through the spoken word.
Calling on the spirit of his namesake, Jackson believes, that like Nat Turner, the ultimate goal is to facilitate freedom with a higher purpose. Creating music largely in the Hip Hop genre, Turner says his major writing inspirations include Fall Out Boy, John Mayer, Lily Allen, and Taylor Swift, proving his versatility in musical thought.
"Music is about sharing thoughts and sending energy to another person. I am responsible for the message in my music, whether it's that of destruction or positive impact."
