Peter Hook & The Light at Mezzanine

Peter Hook & The Light

"A natural born anecdotalist" (Sunday Times Oct 2009), Legendary bass guitarist Peter Hook remains energetically devoted to music, rock and roll and the experiences that his three decade career has given him, with bands like Joy Division, New Order, Revenge, Monaco and Freebass, as a director of the infamous Fac 51 The Hacienda and now new Manchester indie venue The Factory. Hooky's been-there, seen-more-than-it all thirty years in the business has seen his bass playing redefine the role and inspire countless young musicians across seminal classics such as "Love Will Tear Us Apart", "Atmosphere", "Ceremony", "Thieves Like Us", "Regret", "What Do You Want From Me?" and more.

A well respected rock and roll icon, Hooky has become synonymous with the Manchester music scene and what it represents culturally. He presently DJ's all over the world, both as himself and also with the revived Hacienda, continues to record and produce new music, and manages his own affairs, both in music and in other ventures. With the honour of being portrayed in two major films "24 Hour Party People" and "Control", Hooky has recently completed recording his Freebass project which also features Mani (Stone Roses / Primal Scream) and Andy Rourke (The Smiths) as companion bassists. The album "Its A Beautiful Life" is presently available for download from. www.fac51thehacienda.com, and is awaiting a physical release in the autumn.

Most recently Hooky has opened a new chapter on his life, as a critically acclaimed author with his honest to god, no holds barred account of the turbulent times of the Hacienda years in "The Hacienda - How Not To Run A Club." Very well received, the book received 4 and 5 star reviews across the board for its indelibly sharp yet warm portrayal of the characters and chaos that surrounded The Hacienda. The paperback, enhanced and collectors versions of "How Not To Run A Club" are to be issued this autumn from September 2010 onwards and Hooky is presently planning two further books, the next on Joy Division and then one on New Order. Having decided to commemorate the 30 year anniversary of Ian Curtis' passing by performing Unknown Pleasures in two charity supporting concerts at The Factory in Manchester with his band The Light, offers have come in from around the world for these special concerts and over the Summer of 2010, are performing at 1234 Festival London, Benicassim in Spain, and other high profile European Festivals including Vintage at Goodwood. Towards the Autumn and winter 2010 Hooky will be touring Australia and New Zealand, Spain, Italy with The Light Performing Unknown Pleasures and other Warsaw / Joy Division tracks before coming to the US.
