Break Thru Music Presents: Battle for Warped Tour Round at the Palladium

Established in 2002 by friends Brian, Devin, Rusty, Mark, and Tim, Downfall set out to become one of the hardest working, hardest rocking original bands in the Raleigh, NC area. After Mark Rose stepped down, bassist Dave Minella joined the band in 2006 , and in late 2007, the second half of the West brothers phenomenon, Devin West, rejoined the band after a one-year absence. In February, 2012, downfall welcomed their newest band member, drummer Josh Foster.

The Downfall sound comes from a mixture of styles and influences each member brings with him. Their music has been characterized by listeners as "high energy rock, slightly alternative with a heavy metal twist." The band's collaborative songwriting efforts give each song a tightness and edginess and serve to showcase the members' influences and talents. The inspirations and influences of the group tell the story. Every member is heavily influenced by classic heavy metal and hard rock pioneers such as Metallica, Ozzy and Pantera, and by contemporary artists like Black Label Society. In addition, Downfall's songwriting and musical styles draw upon past and present rock, classical, jazz and blues influences. This collection of influences and styles makes for an unmistakable chemistry and sound associated with Downfall - the "sound" that Downfall fans love.

Downfall brings to the stage the same power and synergy they display in their songwriting. Their high-energy live shows have earned them fans throughout the south. Downfall has played with such national bands as Flickerstick and The End, and their music has been played on Raleigh's 96 Rock and WKNC 88.1. In addition, the band was selected as a national finalist in the 2004 Zippo Hot Tour and was featured on the show True Music on HDNet. Most recently, Downfall won the 2007 Regional Battle of the Bands contest presented by Vision Promotional Services.

Shot Heard Around The World

Going against the grain and standing up for what you believe in has always been a difficult thing to do. In today's current music scene, there are too many bands that are carbon copies of each other; lacking any kind of originality, conviction, or sincerity. Music should be about what sounds good and what is pure and from the heart. Whether you sing what you feel or play your instrument as if it were conveying your words, that is what music is really about.

Since the band's conception in May of 2005, Massachusetts' Shot Heard Around The World has been trying to do just that. The mission of the band since day one is to have as much fun as possible, and to play music that they enjoy. SHATW has always let the music speak for itself, without falling into any specific image or genre. After solidifying the band's line up, and four years of relentless touring and writing, the band went back into the studio spring of 2009 with producer, Jay Maas (Bane, Defeater, Verse) to record their second EP "How Empty We've Become". The EP illustrates the spectrum of the band's sound mixing an up-tempo aggressive and technical style with melodically sung chorus.

With an increasing fan base in the New England area, the band has been making a name for themselves with their energetic, and chaotic live performance. SHATW has had the chance to open for some of the biggest acts in the underground music scene including: Killswitch Engage, All That Remains, Shadows Fall, Four Year Strong, The Acacia Strain, The Chariot, Bury Your Dead, Finch, and many more! Be sure to catch the band as they embark on their first full US tour this summer in support of their new EP, "How Empty We've Become."
