Nappy Roots are an American hip hop sextet that originated in Kentucky in 1995, best known for their hit 2002 single "Awnaw". Their music can be categorized as alternative Southern rap.

The members of the group met while studying at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The group consists of Kentucky and Oakland, California natives Skinny DeVille, B. Stille, Ron Clutch, Big V, R. Prophet, and Fishscales.

Their debut album Country Fried Cess was released in 1998. Eventually, they were signed to the major label Atlantic Records and rose to fame with their first album on the label, 2002's Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz. The album featured the singles "Headz up", "Awnaw" (whose remix featured Marcos Curiel), and "Po' Folks" (featuring Anthony Hamilton). Their next album Wooden Leather, released in 2003, featured the singles "Roun' the Globe" and "Sick and Tired" (featuring Anthony Hamilton). This critically acclaimed, major label follow up album, "Wooden Leather" featured production from Kanye West, David Banner and Lil Jon.

Since the release of Wooden Leather they are back to being independent artists, and have started their own label, N.R.E.G (Nappy Roots Entertainment Group) with distribution through Fontana/Universal Music Group. On July 31, 2007, they released their first album as independent artists, Innerstate Music featuring singles "Good Day" and "Keep It Real". This was actually an internet album, similar to a modern day mixtape.

Kapers Music is clever, party inspired, lyrically forward hip hop. As one half of the rap duo The Cold Cuts, Kaper has spent over half his life creating music that drives his need to express his crazed antics while giving listeners the hilarious bars and punchlines he has become known for over the years. Growing up in the Midwest Kaper quickly rose thru the ranks of his local scene in Columbia, MO. Kaper and childhood best friend Teeper T started The Cold Cuts and together released 3 albums, 3 ½ mixtapes and a couple singles. The Cold Cuts have Headlined a numerous shows in their hometown and have also toured regionally all Independently. The Cold Cuts moved to California in 2012. Kaper’s popularity with The Cold Cuts led them to an apparel deal with internationally renowned Hat and Clothing company Grassroots California. In 2013 The Cold Cuts and Grassroots released a Hat together, along with an E.P entitled Grass Cuts. This put Kaper in a unique group of artist to have merch deals with Grassroots California that includes Method Man, Del the Funky Homosapien, and Spankalicious amongst others. Kaper Currently resides in the Midwest and Released a full length self titled debut album on 8/31/2014. He is able to book shows anywhere in the country on short notice and has performed alongside acts such as Tech N9ne, Girl Talk, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Mickey Avalon, G-Easy, Jedi Mind Tricks, Killah Priest, The Coup, Nappy Roots, Stevie Stone, Mac Lethal, Lyrics Born and many many more. With an ever growing fan base and list of accomplishments, Kaper is certain to continue dropping bars for hip hop heads world wide for a long time to come.
