On the heels of a series of much-adored singles, EPs, and video sessions, transcendent pop band Superhumanoids returns with its debut full-length, Exhibitionists. On the album the Los Angeles three-piece shows off a sound that's ambitious and awesomely precise. Brilliant harmonies and arrangements abound, as the group showcases its trademark blend of diverse instrumentation and driving electronics. It is otherworldly pop at its finest.
Sarah Chernoff, Cameron Parkins, and Max St. John prize meticulousness—every sound you hear on these recordings is the result of deliberate, nearly obsessive dedication to their craft. Recorded and produced by the band itself, the album was mixed by Ariel Rechtshaid (Charli XCX, Blood Orange, Major Lazer, Active Child) and Doug Boehm (GIRLS, Guided By Voices).
Superhmanoids' studio ethic is matched by its devotion to dynamic and inspiring live performance. The band has gained a steadfast fan-base across the U.S. and Europe on tours with Local Natives, Active Child, Balam Acab, Cold War Kids, Class Actress, Cults, and Wild Beasts. The group will hit the road again soon to share their latest creation with old fans and new friends.
Ski Lodge is a two-way mirror into the mind of Andrew Marr:
multi-instrumentalist, expressionist, and the newest member of the
Dovecote Records family. Marr's inward-looking, earnest surf pop
suggest, instead of Summer, a longing for Summer on an early Spring
day. By funneling influences ranging from The Morning Benders to
Arcade Fire and The Smiths into the sound of the Strokes and Vampire
Weekend, Marr manages to bypass the epic, opting for a more brassy,
lilting croon. It's music about forgiveness, youth, and staying on the
long, meandering path toward an eventual home
Started as a studio project in early 2012 by Danish born singer & multi-instrumentalist Emil Bovbjerg and Grammy award-winning engineer & producer Jeremy Loucas, Bowmont is a 5 piece eclectic electro-rock collective from Brooklyn, NY. While working and expanding on a collection of demos by Bovbjerg, the producer duo joined forces with Mon Khmer guitarist Elias Meister and others on the Brooklyn music scene.
As a writer Bovbjerg comes experienced in widely differing disciplines like orchestral & wind ensemble writing, but here relies fundamentally on his own voice as the main vehicle and delves into a much more personal rock, electro & pop influenced approach to songwriting. Audibly freed from restrictions and composed in broad strokes and vivid colors, the songs are carefully crafted simplicity, the production painstakingly rich in detail and lyrics like condensed manuscripts laced with film-like imagery. The band's singles 'Ruphmiup' and 'Look Closely' have sparked the attention of notable blogs and radio stations in Europe and the U.S.
Their debut EP 'Euphorian Age' was released on February 17, 2013. This Band That Band called it "a remarkably complete and assured piece of work from these relative newcomers. Like any solid release, it feels like a journey, in fact it feels far more like a proper album than an introductory EP."
