Octo Octa is Michael Bouldry-Morrison, a Brooklyn-based house music producer. Following the release of his debut EP “Let Me See You” on 100% Silk in 2011 – a release described by label head Amanda Brown (LA Vampires) as “literally one of the favorite songs ever released on either of my record labels” – he went on to produce three further releases for the label: ʻRough, Rugged, and Raw,ʼ ʻOh Love,ʼ and an eventual collaboration with Amanda Brown, the ʻLA Vampires by Octo Octaʼ release “Freedom 2K.” His singular brand of R&B-sampling deep and emotional house music has propelled him to the forefront of a scene of house-not-house producers garnering widespread critical acclaim in both traditional electronic music and indie-minded musical circles. His latest release, the More Times EP, is out February 2 via Gerd Janson's Running Back imprint.
As a newcomer to the NYC electronic scene, Anthony Naples sure has been stirring things up.
Growing up in Miami and developing a penchant for artists like DJ Laz and Power 96, Anthonyhas honed in on his craft and incorporated these sounds of the times. His first release on the newly founded Mister Saturday Night label is also their first. Tracks like Mad Disrespect andTusk are built with Garage and Jersey Sound in mind; vintage sounding drum machines swing off time with paired vocal samples.
He's also garnered a fair share of praise from musicians like Four Tet, who says "this will be one of the tunes of the year."
Catch Mr. Naples as he spins alongside Brooklyn Bass Residents Judge Wise, T'Angelo, and Evan Michael for a late night session at Cameo Gallery that is sure to not be missed.
