The Trip Daddys

Formed in Saint Louis, MO in 1995. The band has performed all over the U.S., and developed a steady following throughout the Midwest.

In 1999 the band began a decade plus streak of hometown readers poll victories. These awards included “Best Rockabilly Band”, and “Best Live Band”, in St. Louis area magazines such as The Riverfront Times and Playback, along with rave reviews in the Saint Louis Post Dispatch.

Over the years The Trip Daddys have rubbed shoulders and shared the stage with acts such as Brian Setzer, Chuck Berry, Dick Dale, Hank 3, BR549, X, Th’ Legendary Shack Shakers and Wayne Hancock, just to name a few.

In 2003 Craig Daddy was hired to front legendary Stray Cats drummer, Slim Jim Phantom’s band for a few shows in Saint Louis and Green Bay.

In 2008 the band was hired by longtime friend Exene Cervenka as her backing band for several Midwest tour dates.

In 2007 the band got a reboot, with new rhythm section members Dennis Williams and Tracey Morrissey, and founder Craig Straubinger maintaining guitar and vocal duties. This lineup recorded the band's sixth disc entitled “Roll On”. Self released, the disc received rave reviews locally and nationally. December 2011 saw the release of the ep "The Life We Chose", a rootsy, guitar driven affair.

2012 saw the addition of veteran Saint Louis area upright bass man Michael Graham. The Daddys had been gravitating towards more of a real rockabilly-roots-blues sound in recent years, and acquiring Michael sealed the deal.
Although The Trip Daddys avoid making music by the numbers, the band is sometimes referred to as a rockabilly band in print. The boys prefer to call it real rock n roll (with rockabilly tendencies if you like), which includes heavy doses of the blues and hillbilly music.

With an admiration for the work ethic of bands of the past, such as Black Flag and Minor Threat, The Daddys are content for the moment to proceed with a DIY attitude. Getting signed and knocking the flavor of the month off the charts hasn’t come up at any band rehearsals. The Daddys prefer to rely on a reputation, 17 years in the making, of top notch musicianship, and an incendiary live show, to get their point across.

Whether opening for big names and legends, or playing a VFW Hall in Kansas for 30 hot rodders, The Trip Daddys always arrive fully prepared to rock the roof off. So put on your seat belt, hold on tight, and get ready for The Trip Daddys!
