The Bottom Dollars, The Hollows

The Bottom Dollars

These "serial heart stealers" [The Deli Magazine] produce an absolute wall of sound... Thunderous drums echoing behind a classic rock rhythm section with soaring, lush vocal harmonies. Take that picture and paint it with shades of The Clash's on-stage bravado, the vibe of The Band circa 'Rock of Ages' and the power of My Morning Jacket and well, you've almost got The Bottom Dollars.
Hailing from Brooklyn, NY, this proudly-loud five piece have quickly become a point of discussion for bloggers, tapers, as well as eager, sweaty concert-goers all across the North America, gaining accolades in NPR: All Songs Considered, KEXP, Daytrotter, Village Voice, Relix Magazine, ScoutMob, NME Magazine (UK & Europe), The Wild Honey Pie (Best of SXSW 2013) as well as many other notable publications.
The Bottom Dollars return this year with their debut LP “Meet Me In Cognito” a collaboration with multi-platinum engineer John Siket (Sonic Youth, Phish, Yo La Tengo, Dave Matthews Band) and their usual heavy touring regiment to bring their signature blend of neo-classic americana & rock n’ roll back into expansive assemblage.

"The Bottom Dollars' music goes something like this...It's having a flask tucked, at all times, in the inside pocket of any coat that would ever be worn. It's keeping that flask healthily full with something that coats." - Sean Moeller, Daytrotter

"It doesn't get much better." - Lindsay Gilbert, No Pulp Music
“Pick any Bottom Dollars' tune and see if the first guitar riff doesn't make you want a bottle of whiskey and a barstool (the "let's make some trouble" kind, not the "let's drown our sorrows" kind).” - ScoutMob

"With heavy blues vocals and an old-west-appeal, The Bottom Dollars continue to feed on their growing buzz with energetic live shows and a constant presence in the New York music scene." - Devon Antonetti, The Deli Magazine

The Hollows are a roots-rock group of multi-instrumentalists; a freewheeling hootenany of a band. A veritable junkyard of mandolins, banjos, guitars, accordions, horns, harmonicas, and various other musical doodads are in constant rotation. With no frontman (or six frontmen), everyone writes and arranges material, creating a diverse and uniquely blended sound. The show is a high-octane, unpredictable barn-burner.

Their debut LP, BELONG TO THE LAND, was released in August 2011. Soon after, the band was featured as The Deli Magazine's "Artist of the Month" (NYC; August 2011) and showcased in the 2011 CMJ Music Marathon. "Poor Eyes," the first music video for BELONG TO THE LAND, was released in February 2012, its release party garnering a "Critic's Pick" in TimeOut NY. A follow-up self-titled EP was released this past June, landing features on Spinner, The Huffington Post, MSN, WCBS FM, Pure Volume, and, among others. A second music video, "August," was released in July on BaebleMusic. The band showcased again in the 2012 CMJ Music Marathon this October and is setting its sights on South by Southwest in March. A live album is scheduled for release in early 2013.
