Born and raised in NYC. Rockin' the world one person at a time.
"Strip Darling, an atmospheric local indie-pop outfit fronted by the angelic-voiced keyboardist Jacque Ryal. It's an impressively diverse set, encompassing torchy brooders and sultry upbeat jams." - Time Out New York
"Strip Darling is 5 piece New York City-based band led by keyboardist Jacque Ryal. Introspective, angry, and ultimately redemptive, Mend is a moody, atmospheric song cycle that is very much on par with artists such as Tori Amos, Portishead and Florence & The Machine." - The Interrobang - The Filtered Excellence
Tony Max set out on his musical journey way back in the summer of 1999. After picking up a guitar he soon discovered a talent for writing songs and never quit after that. His tuneful songs are either enhanced by a rocking beat or a soulful groove. Tony has an insatiable appetite for talking about God's love and wishes to express that fully through his music. The future is only looking brighter each day for this young artist.
Born April 14th in 1982, Tony Max grew up in a home that was full of love and fun. From an early age Tony was exposed to great music ranging from the Beatles to Juan Luis Guerra to Pink Floyd. Tony was able to sing along with the radio and copy the melodies from a very early age. When he was about seven years old he began singing and competing against his younger sister Giselle. They would constantly go back and forth to see who was the better singer. In time, Tony began singing in school concerts and was given lead parts in many performances. As the years progressed Tony began seeking how to improve his talents. Fortunately, through some divine intervention, at the end of his sophomore year in high school he transferred to Grover Cleveland high school where he began to study the guitar under the instruction of music teacher Brett Saunders Green at the age of sixteen. He developed a relentless drive for becoming better on his instrument and quickly began to grow in his ability. In one year, he grew in skill and was good enough to join his church worship band in 1999.
The years continued to roll and Tony's desire for fame and stardom was replaced with the desire to effectively communicate his sentiments through the language of music and use his talents to help the less fortunate all over the globe. Tony dreams of one day being able to establish industries in the farm towns of the forgotten communities of the world in order to help give those people the possibility of a future where they no longer need to sell themselves in order to make a living or become mules for drug dealers in order to feed their families. Tony sees his music as a means to convey the convictions of his heart and the sentiments of a merciful and loving God. Tony Max believes that God in heaven sent Jesus, his son, to be a ransom for all mankind and that through his death we were redeemed to a loving relationship with almighty God.
Now, Tony isn't your traditional christian artist. Although he does love singing and leading worship in churches he believes that, as a christian, he has a responsibility to sing about the pure love that should exist in our societies today. A love that has grown very cold. Tony hopes that through God's leading, a great work ethic, and the help of his fans he will be able to see the lives of so many changed and made better... Success at this level is the only thing that will be satisfactory for this heartfelt artist. This is Tony Max!
