ARTEMESIS, DESPISE THE SUN, PILE OF PRIESTS, and AMDUSIAS

Artemesis all started in January of 2011. Guitarist Matt Meyer was cruising Craigslist looking for like-minded metal musicians. By chance, Matt stumbled on an ad placed by guitarist Michael Stancel regarding a melodic metal band. After meeting up for some jamming, Michael and Matt realized they liked all the same bands, and hated all the same bands, which was grounds to start their own metal band, which would eventually be called ARTEMESIS. With the mission of starting the worlds greatest metal band firmly cemented in place, the logical next step was to complete the lineup with a drummer, bassist, and vocalist. In February of 2011, Matt and Michael met drummer Ricco Burkhardt, who joined the two guitar players on their quest for metal domination shortly thereafter. A month later in March of 2011, the crew discovered bassist Josh Kelly through an internet ad. Impressed with Josh's flawless technique and virtuosic playing, Artemesis asked Josh to join their ranks. Thus, with all of the instrumental positions covered, all Artemesis needed to complete their sonic assault was a front man, who came in the form of vocalist Chad Bren during June of 2011.

With a full lineup finally nailed down, Artemesis spent the summer of 2011 writing and perfecting their original compositions. By September, the band was ready for their first live performance, which was in Ft. Collins, CO on September 16th of 2011. Immediately following their first live performance ever, Artemesis was invited to open a show for Colorado's resident thrash heavy-hitters, Havok. From then on, Artemesis continued to play concerts all over Colorado, opening for other notable acts like Allegaeon, Arcanium, Vale of Pnath, and Iconocaust.

Meanwhile, off the stage, Artemesis teamed up with acclaimed producer Kyle Neeley (The Black Dahlia Murder, Every Time I Die) to record their debut EP titled "Transgression," which was released in December of 2012.

In January of 2013, vocalist Chad Bren left the band. Not long after that, vocalist Sam Johnson (ex. Dissonance in Design) joined the band's ranks. Artemesis has been performing with Sam since March of 2013, and they are currently in the studio recording their follow-up to the "Transgression" EP.
