Devon Parker

Devon Parker grew up in a family of musicians. Her father, a touring keyboard player, performed for many years under the Warner Brothers-Reprise label; her uncle was a trumpet player and arranger with Woody Herman, Wayne Cochran, and Blood, Sweat, and Tears. Both her Mom and Grandpa played the Saxophone, and so her exposure to jazz Blues and Motown was in her blood. Constantly surrounded by music, her singing career began in Fort Collins, Colorado, when she was the youngest person selected to sing in a local Dinner theater production.

Devon has a developed a powerful resonant singing style reminiscent of Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Chaka Khan, Donny Hathaway, and other standouts in the funk-soul tradition. In addition to performing, she writes and records unique cutting-edge neo-soul-funk songs. Her voice moves adeptly between many genres including hip-hop, soul, funk, jazz, reggae, and Afro-beat. Recently she’s been an invited to perform as a guest singer with Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, and has toured with Del the Funky Homosapien.

Devon sings lead regularly with The Nu Classics, a funk trio that has played at the South by Southwest music festival, and has opened for George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars, Victor Wooten, Snarky Puppy, The Pimps of Joytime and many others. She also sings with SuperCollider, a group that performs at the best jazz clubs in Colorado. SuperCollider was selected to play at the 2012 Telluride Jazz Festival, and has shared the stage with Tower of Power, Charlie Hunter, and others.

Devon is rapidly becoming recognized as one of the premier soul-funk singer/performers in Colorado. Her critical acclaim is quickly evolving toward a more national and international level of prominence through several collaborative efforts now occurring across the U.S. and Europe.
